Let's go hiking at Ross Prairie!

I haven't been to Ross Prairie this summer because it's a 'hot hike'!

But I wanted to walk down the trail and look for mushrooms,

so off I went.

Come on into the woods with me!

It was surprisingly pleasant. I wouldn't call it cool but it wasn't the blazing sun either and there was a hint of a breeze.

And mushrooms?

I saw them everywhere!

And I saw the sweet lady with her daughter leaving when I got there. (I usually see her at Pruitt!)

And one lady on a horse. They were the only people I saw while I was there! No problem with social distancing here on a summer day in North Central Florida!

But beauty everywhere you look!

I'll sneak a few more mushroom mosaics here and there.

I almost forgot about this little girl I saw from a distance.

There's something very peaceful and calming about being in the deep woods. Don't you agree?

I'm joining Angie for Mosaic Monday HERE .

I'm linking with All Seasons at the Jesh Studio too!

That is beautiful. I didn't know there were "woods" at Ross Prairie. I thought it was just a prairie, so I never went there. Gee...I missed it. Love the mushrooms, and the horse and rider, and I hope there was someone with that little girl on her scooter. I'm sure there was. She looks so happy and free! Oh to be a little girl on a scooter again! Thanks for sharing. Loved these pictures.

Yes, there is, but I don't enjoy hiking to get there. πŸ™ƒ The red mushroom looks so much like a fallen autumn leaf. Love that photo of the little girl on her scooter...just marvelous!

Before I even came to the picture of the little girl, I thought this looks like a fairy tale place, the woods so entangled in branches and leaves, mushrooms on the ground. When the little girl showed up, I knew I was right, a fairy tale place for sure.

Mushrooms. Hmm. I would not have thought to go looking for them. I just saw a bunch of them in our lawn this afternoon while I was pulling weeds in the rock bed. Mine were all orange -- not the lovely variety you found.

What wonderful pictures, Diane. I have missed visiting! You got some amazing pictures and I actually love the one of the little girl scooting along!
We do love the woods and just picked up a permanent site for a camper unit in the woods. We won't use it until next spring but it will be there waiting for us.

We saw a tiny bright orange tree frog for the first time last week. It was the first time I ever saw an orange one!

Hope you have a beautiful week and don't get the rains from the storms off shore. xo Diana

The blue sky with all its fluffy white clouds is always so beautiful in Florida. And I love the trees, especially the ones with all the moss hanging from their limbs. You can have the mushrooms, I'll take the rest. I really miss coming to Florida. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

You spotted so many wonderful and colorful mushrooms, Diane! I am always surprised to see them growing here in Colorado as we usually do not have much moisture, but I imagine your weather produces many of them around the pines and other trees. This would definitely be a hike I'd love to take!

Seems odd to call it a prairie when all I see is woodland.

Our yard two weeks ago was covered in so many different varieties of mushrooms, this week they have all rotted or disappeared. But with this week being all rain, I'm sure there will be more next week.
Love that you have so many places to go hike.

I so agree with you where you mention the relaxing, peaceful sensation which a walk in the woods produces. I must say I miss the woods tremendously. Back home in the UK when I was a child a walk up the woods was a matter of out of my back door, cross the road and up the woodland path and I could walk for miles under a green canopy. The Mediterranean is so different! It has its own beauty of course.I see similarities in this terrain which I have enjoyed visiting through your post and beautiful photos. As for the Mushrooms....what a variety and I rather like the way you have paired the mushrooms with each photo. keep well Amanda x

Those trees are so unusual and mysterious. Those orange mushrooms match the rider's orange shirt - what a cool mosaic that is. I'm glad you had a pleasant walk and there was a bit of a breeze. So many different kinds of mushrooms grow there. Yes, there's something about the woods and forest that is so peaceful and calming. : )
