Money for Books!

I am not a big spender. I tend to use it up and wear it out and sometimes even do without! lol

But I do love books!

So when I won the giveaway that Brenda had on her blog, It's a Beautiful Life, I spent my giveaway money on books!

I knew she would approve!

I always have books and movies in my wish list and I was going between getting some of the When Calls the Heart DVDs or books. And isn't it funny when you have a gift card, you start looking even more diligently! Like my happiness depends on making the right choice! heehee!

So I've been wanting a journal that I can use for writing AND sketching so I found this one!

And then for inspiration, I bought this book too, Keeping a Nature Journal. I am so excited to have them both and look forward to even more hikes with the nicer weather.

And adding some art to my hiking journal.

I also splurged on Etsy and got a vintage reader. I already had Busy World and I found To and Fro from Three Bear Vintage.  She was delightful to exchange messages with too.

I might have gone slightly over my gift card winnings but I couldn't resist these wonderful books!

Thanks to Brenda for adding to my joy! Happy blogging to her! The link to It's a Beautiful Life is HERE. Visit her....you'll love her AND her beautiful blog!

And shop Etsy's handmade and vintage items!

I am praying for everyone in the path of Hurricane Sally...friends and family! Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

I’m joining Thankful Thursdays and

I like Thursdays HERE too!

Diane, Congrats. I like the books you chose. When you do your journal, maybe you can show some entries at times. I always thought you should be a hiking guide or making greeting cards with hiking pics. :):) Blessings, stay safe. xoxo, love, Susie

Hello,

Congrats on winning the giveaway! The books and journal you bought look wonderful. I wish I could sketch, I am not creative. I could keep a journal of my nature sightings. Etsy does has some beautiful and original items. Take care, enjoy your day!

Congrats on your win at Brenda's and what fine choices you made! πŸ“š Happy sketching and journaling. And don't those readers and primers take you right back to the good old days at school when nearly everything was fun and an adventure?

MadSnapper said...

congratulations on your win and you sure got a lot of bang for your buck! so many nice things and exactly what you love and wanted. we don't own any dvd movies and i was going to buy a set but they were blue ray and we only have a cheap dvd player.. could not tell what was what and would play on what we have so bought nothing...

I have a very good friend who keeps a journal like that. She even brought it with her when we traveled together to Barcelona last October. I have never been inclined to keep one.

As for Etsy I found some vintage stuffies for granddaughter turning 4 next week: an Elmo and a tiny panda with big eyes. Also a book featuring a panda which is yet to arrive. Before kids my daughter had an Etsy site.

Congrats! I love all the books you got. Just an FYI, I sell books on Instagram. Be sure to fill me in on any you have on your wish list. I can usually find them really cheap :)

Diane, Oh, how lovely to see what you decided to get with the gift card. What a great choice. You'll have great fun with these. I agree that it is kinda funny when we have a gift card in hand how we look, and decide, most carefully before making the choice - I tend to do the same.

Wishing you a beautiful day, and thanks so much for the mention! xox

How exciting to win something you can actually spend on yourself! And you chose such neat books that you will enjoy and use. I love that you like to add artwork to your nature journal. That is a great idea. I've tried that, but I prefer taking pictures to trying to draw...but I've done it from time to time. My sketches just aren't very good anymore so I gave up. I am sure you will do very well with this, and it will add to your enjoyment of your hikes. That will be a real keepsake for you and your family. Maybe you can even share some with us from time to time? That would be fun. Congratulations!!

Those are awesome books. What a wonderful idea to make a post and picture nature journal. You could even post each chapter on a separate blog and have it printed in PDF form. This costs $10.00. You could make copies of this for family members . Of course, you could have it printed in hard cover book form too. Just thoughts that come to mind. You have a wonderful enjoying your new books, hugs, Edna B.

A nature journal is a wonderful idea, although I can't sketch worth a darn. My granddaughter carries one, and she's not a bad little artist. So much fun to look back on old hikes!

My daughter got me addicted to When Calls the Heart a couple years back. Now I don't have the Hallmark channel any more.
Nice purchases with your winnings.

You chose well! Love the journals! I’m looking for one to journal 2021 Beekeeping. I may use something I already have. Each month I’d like to press the flowers the bees are using for pollen and nectar. We are planting more wildflowers at the ranch and mowing down the bittereeed and goats weed.....those make very bitter honey!
