Florida Christmas Colors!

We've had a good frost this winter so we are enjoying the colors of Christmas!

The Bald Cypress trees are gorgeous when they turn to burnt orange before they shed their needles.

And on this particular hike at Blue Run Park, the river was gorgeous!

Even this kayak was perfectly placed for a photo op! (he was fishing)

This is the Withlacoochee River that we walk along as we hike this trail.

Hike #150 for the year! We are happy to reach our goal and adding to the number now while the weather is nice!

Hugs to my hiking buddy! It's a special day week for him!

The house on the river.

Views of the Withlacoochee River.

I hope you've enjoyed views of North Central Florida in December! I love seeing the photos many of you are sharing of the SNOW in your area! Stay safe and healthy this week!

Update: the trees I am showing are Bald Cypress trees that grow along and IN the water. It's unusual for a conifer to be deciduous but this one is, it loses its leaves in winter thus the name 'bald'.

 holiday hugs! 🌴

I always love seeing the "fall Florida color" in December. It always arrives right on schedule. The rivers of north Florida are so beautiful. 150 hikes is great and time for a few more.

It’s all so beautiful! My ‘Sherry in the country’ is wanting to plant a cypress tree on the island in the big tank for Dean’s Christmas present. They are expensive and getting it planted out there will not be easy! But what a great gift!

Congratulations on making your hiking goal. Bald Cypress trees sound interesting, I've never heard of them before. How I would love to sit in a boat, drifting down that river.

I never thought to fall colors in Florida, but then I've never been there, so what would I know? You photography is wonderful, such great photos. I'll send you snow photos when we have some. Doesn't sound like we will have a white Christmas, though.

A beautiful place adn you created beautful Mosaics.
We have one tree in Sweden that drops it´s needles in the same way, the European larch. This year the weather was not to it´s liking and it did not get the beautiful colors. The trees was dull instead of glowing orange. :(

Wishing you and yours a good Christmas despite the present situation.
Take care. Some day it HAS to pass!

Oh yes, I've been noticing the Bald Cypress trees around our area too. They are all burnt orange and shedding rapidly now. Our maple trees are orange and yellow now too. Yes, it is "fall" in Florida finally, when everyone else is having winter! Loved your pictures...The Withlachoochee River is beautiful. Have you ever eaten at Stumpknockers on the River? It's fun place to go. And then on the other side of the road there is a restaurant called "Red's", which is good too. Happy Birthday to your hubby? I'm assuming? Have a wonderful Christmas!

I love your string of cute mittens. Bright and cheery...your walks are always gorgeous, love seeing the changing flora. You have such different trees, plants, flowers than we have here, makes your posts so interesting. We are still snowless other than dustings here in Illinois, I have mixed feelings on that. Hugs and have safe and Happy Holidays! Sandi
