Withlacoochee River Weather
Say that ten times in a row real fast! heehee!
June is in full swing here in Florida and you see lots of vehicles pulling boats on trailers, even more with kayaks and canoes on top of their cars and trucks.
We love walking the trail along the river at Blue Run Park.
This Black crowned night heron was easy to see through the vegetation
but hard to get good photos.
And when we got to the river bridge there were boats zipping by....
leaving ripples in the water.
And a beautiful Limpkin on a limb down in the water.
Can you see him right in the center of the photo?
It's not a bird we see very often. And it has a crazy call. You feel like you are in the jungle when you hear him.
I hope you have a chance to get outside and enjoy nature this weekend!
It's nice to have a choice of river walk or forest hike no matter what the weather.
Florida's a nice place to live year round and the ocean is calling my name too! SOON! 😎

Great shots! Enjoy your weekend.
...that is a beautiful Limpkin. I hope that you are enjoying a beautiful day.
Truly beautiful! My husband and son are on the bayous this morning looking for a trout. I am enjoying the early summery days myself.
I love all the names of rivers in Florida, and in my home state GA. i grew up in Savannah and daddy dragged us to the Ogechee and Altamaha rivers because he loved to fish. Mother and my brother and I hated these river camps. black water, snakes and gnats and mosquitoes. we also refused to eat the catfish he loved. not sure why the name f your river brought that back. this river i beautiful and I assume back then there were all these critters but I never LOOKED.. the digital camera made me see with different eyes nd i would like to go and see what i see now
Beautiful photos!
Have a blessed day!
And since you have said goodbye to most of your tourists, you have it all to yourselves. Take lots of pictures at the beach.
Oh wonderful nature shots of the lovely river you get to go to in FL ~

Hello,
The BC Night Heron is a cool bird, great sighting. The Limpkin is a great bird, I remember hearing the Limpkins when we were in Florida. They were so loud. Pretty scenery and photos.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a great day and a happy weekend.
Limpkin is beautiful. I like the eyes of the Black crowned night heron.
Today it will be in the 90s in WV. I would love to go to a Lake and enjoy it. We are doing some work around the house. Love your pictures. I learn so much about your state from your posts.
I would love to live somewhere that didn't get freezing cold in the winter. Your area looks so lovely. I always enjoy seeing all the photos you share.
Your beautiful photos both show me the new and remind me of my youth in Louisiana and Florida (Destin). I would love to hear the call of a limpkin.
You do live in such a beautiful place!
Looks like another great day out. Great capture of the beautiful Limpkin!
The Limpkin is beautiful. I've never seen one of those before. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend.
Great photos, as always, and you are right about Florida being the BEST!! xo
Beautiful Lipkin images, love it.
the limpkin sure did make up for the difficulty with the heron!! sometime times the picture in our memory is best anyway!! so nice to see the limpkin, we don't see them here!! florida is a magical place but i am not sure i could tolerate the summer heat!!
speaking of heat, it is sizzling up here. highs of 94, i am not sure i will be getting outside!! have a wonderful weekend!!
Beautiful birds!
I LOVE that first picture - picture perfect.
Love your nature walk captures!
I like the name Withlacoochee. And it looks very pretty!
So sweet! Thanks for sharing
Such spectacular nature shots! Wow!
Happy Sunday!
Wonderful images. I love the Black Crowned Night Heron.
You reminded me of the Limpkin call I heard in Mexico. I saw them too, an unusual bird. I wish I was cruising along your summer waterways today Diane. All that birding! Have a great day.
I keep looking for a Black-crowned Night Heron here, but no luck so far.
Great sightings of the birds. AND, such wonderful, beautiful vegetation surrounding. Thanks for lending the link to this post for us all at IRBB this weekend.
I don't think I've ever seen a Limpkin. It's beautiful. I did not get to go to Florida this year, and I really miss it. You have a super day, hugs, Edna B.
Always an adventure when we head out with you Diane!!
I tried to say it! :) :) Tried, that is!
Loved to see the images of the Limpkin. A beautiful bird.
Such a lovely place and wonderful shots!
You are so right -- there are many choices of rivers and forests to walk through here in Florida! And also abundant photo opportunities. You take advantage of them all so very well!
Hi Lavender Dreamer! Wow, thanks for taking us along on your walk. I love that trail. Makes me want to fly down to Florida and walk with you. Thanks for sharing your blog and I appreciate your kind comment on mine! John
We spotted a pair of limpkins on a walk in a wildlife preserve in Florida once — very neat to see them.

Beautiful far away photo of the Limpkin. The area looks lush. It must be so wonderful living near nature trail areas.
I've never heard of a limpkin, but it's a striking bird and I'm glad you were able to snap a photo of one. You always find such interesting things on your hikes.
What a cute little Limpkin. He has such a looooong beak. The photo of the river with the ripples left behind is so pretty. You can tell it's Summer there with the green trees all around. That's a cool picture of the Black Crowned Heron because he looks greenish in the picture, being hidden behind the plants. Sounds like you are enjoying your hikes very much, my friend. : )
