Withlacoochee River Weather

 Withlacoochee River Weather

Say that ten times in a row real fast! heehee!

June is in full swing here in Florida and you see lots of vehicles pulling boats on trailers, even more with kayaks and canoes on top of their cars and trucks.

We love walking the trail along the river at Blue Run Park.

This Black crowned night heron was easy to see through the vegetation

but hard to get good photos.

And when we got to the river bridge there were boats zipping by....

leaving ripples in the water.

And a beautiful Limpkin on a limb down in the water.

Can you see him right in the center of the photo?

It's not a bird we see very often. And it has a crazy call. You feel like you are in the jungle when you hear him.

I hope you have a chance to get outside and enjoy nature this weekend!

It's nice to have a choice of river walk or forest hike no matter what the weather.

Florida's a nice place to live year round and the ocean is calling my name too! SOON! 😎

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Truly beautiful! My husband and son are on the bayous this morning looking for a trout. I am enjoying the early summery days myself.

I love all the names of rivers in Florida, and in my home state GA. i grew up in Savannah and daddy dragged us to the Ogechee and Altamaha rivers because he loved to fish. Mother and my brother and I hated these river camps. black water, snakes and gnats and mosquitoes. we also refused to eat the catfish he loved. not sure why the name f your river brought that back. this river i beautiful and I assume back then there were all these critters but I never LOOKED.. the digital camera made me see with different eyes nd i would like to go and see what i see now

And since you have said goodbye to most of your tourists, you have it all to yourselves. Take lots of pictures at the beach.

Hello,

The BC Night Heron is a cool bird, great sighting. The Limpkin is a great bird, I remember hearing the Limpkins when we were in Florida. They were so loud. Pretty scenery and photos.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a great day and a happy weekend.

Today it will be in the 90s in WV. I would love to go to a Lake and enjoy it. We are doing some work around the house. Love your pictures. I learn so much about your state from your posts.

I would love to live somewhere that didn't get freezing cold in the winter. Your area looks so lovely. I always enjoy seeing all the photos you share.

Your beautiful photos both show me the new and remind me of my youth in Louisiana and Florida (Destin). I would love to hear the call of a limpkin.

You reminded me of the Limpkin call I heard in Mexico. I saw them too, an unusual bird. I wish I was cruising along your summer waterways today Diane. All that birding! Have a great day.

Great sightings of the birds. AND, such wonderful, beautiful vegetation surrounding. Thanks for lending the link to this post for us all at IRBB this weekend.

I don't think I've ever seen a Limpkin. It's beautiful. I did not get to go to Florida this year, and I really miss it. You have a super day, hugs, Edna B.

You are so right -- there are many choices of rivers and forests to walk through here in Florida! And also abundant photo opportunities. You take advantage of them all so very well!

We spotted a pair of limpkins on a walk in a wildlife preserve in Florida once — very neat to see them.

Beautiful far away photo of the Limpkin. The area looks lush. It must be so wonderful living near nature trail areas.

I've never heard of a limpkin, but it's a striking bird and I'm glad you were able to snap a photo of one. You always find such interesting things on your hikes.

What a cute little Limpkin. He has such a looooong beak. The photo of the river with the ripples left behind is so pretty. You can tell it's Summer there with the green trees all around. That's a cool picture of the Black Crowned Heron because he looks greenish in the picture, being hidden behind the plants. Sounds like you are enjoying your hikes very much, my friend. : )
