Shorter Hikes, smaller birds

It doesn't always work out that way but we did see some pretty birds this past week on the Florida Trails.

Ovenbird

We were determined to go hiking even though the weather was in full 'summer mode'!

Red-headed Woodpeckers

The humidity was high and the breeze was low but it still felt good to get outside and explore!

Carolina Wren

We just go a little slower and keep the hikes short.

Waterthrush

Thank you to Anni and David G. for help with the IDs! You came to my rescue AGAIN!!!

And then Autumn was announced and overnight our weather changed!

Tufted Titmouse

We are still in the 80s but there is a nice breeze and less humidity!

Northern Parula

I have so many trails on my list that we haven't been able to hike this summer.

Kestrel in flight with the 'catch of the day'!

Does standing behind this post make me look thinner? lol

(that's a rhetorical question...don't you DARE answer it!!!)

Have you seen a change in the weather this week?

Happy Fall from Florida!

Still hot and humid here in south Florida as well, but we do get the gulf breeze and that helps.

The thermometer read 48ΒΊ this morning. But daughter says we should have had a frost by now and haven't yet so we are warmer than usual.

Yes we saw the same change you did and this coming week is going to be more of the same all week per the TV talking. You'll have a chance to walk more and get more awesome pictures as these are really beautiful. And yes I'm going to find a post to get behind to take my picture haha

Adorable birds. I love little ones. Even though big ones, are regal and impressive.

Ahhhh yes, Autumn seems to walk the land, in many places, now.

Of course, standing beside/behind any object, makes us look smaller!!!!! Heh, heh, heh.... You don't think that saying NOT to answer your question, was going to stop me, did you? It make it MORE sure, that I would. -gigggggles-

I love the little Tufted Titmouse. So many lovely photoe and good for you getting out there no matter the weather. Fall is here, so are the fires and smoke, so I can't be outside for very long to enjoy the cooler weather.

Hello Diane,:=) Wow, you saw some pretty smaller birds this time on your hike. I also like the Tufter Titmouse but the Wood Thrush is a fab capture and the Black and White Warbler too.
The dramatic shot of the Kestrel with his frog catch is also a great find.:=)
Enjoy your weekend Diane.:=)

Your photos are great.
Beautiful birds, that wood thrush is really beautiful.
Many species that you show do not occur in the Netherlands.
We have had a cool summer, but we have a beautiful late summer with higher temperatures than in the summer itself.
Greetings Irma

Spectacular bird sightings Diane *the black & white warbler's actually a water thrush!!*
Yes, there has been a drier front move in in our area, but forecasted to go back into summer mode this week.

Thanks for linking in this week!

Hello Diane: The bird you identify as a Wood Thrush is an Ovenbird, and the bird you are calling a Black-and-white Warbler is a Louisiana Waterthrush.

The tufted titmouse has to be one of the cutest birds ever created. Now the weather has cooled down it will be fun to have more walks.

Lovely capture of a different kind of birds, and the weather at my place in south India is too good without harsh sunshine, and we are anticipating a fair monsoon season ahead. I think you look good enough for your weight and height to care to look thin. Have a great week

We had pouring rain and a chill in the air! In the southwest! So strange but so welcomed. I love love love your photos. And you look GREAT, come on out from behind that post young lady! Don't you think the eyes of the ovenbird are just spectacular? And the titmouse's eyes, too. So big and sweet.

I love seeing the titmouse, they are so pretty. We have not had them in our neck of the woods for awhile. We had not had Blue Jay's for several years. Now this year they are back. They nested and raised a family.
