Seeing the Extraordinary!

I'll just jump around in my photos and show some of our sightings at the Pruitt Trailhead a few days ago.

I take SO many photos that I can't possibly share them all but here are a few!

Eastern Bluebird high in the branches.

Gulf Fritillary

Northern Harrier (we think)

Anhinga (we're sure! lol)

And now for the extraordinary! We parked at the trailhead in the blazing sun! No, it really wasn't that hot, around 80 degrees with a nice breeze. We put the top back on the Jeep and pulled out the snacks.

We like to eat apple slices and cheese sticks and always have a bag of nuts and some Wheat Thins in the ice chest, just in case. We had just eaten some of the apple when I remarked about the big flock of buzzards overhead.

Hubby said, one of those is an Eagle!

So out we hopped and we both took a bunch of photos (a bunch is Southern for a LOT!!!)

One more....

oh just one more.....

well, maybe one more! hahaha!

The one above has a dragonfly that photo bombed him! The Eagle was HIGH up, the dragonfly much closer! We estimated the Eagle to be around 4 years old because of the dark tips on the tail feathers.

This man on his horse came off the trail and stopped to look too.

And that was the perfect ending to a wonderful hike!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Hello, Diane

It is always a treat to see the Bald Eagles. I love seeing the Bluebirds too, pretty butterfly and great capture of the Hawk in flight. Your Eagles photos are amazing. Thank you for linking up and sharing your critters and post. Take care, have a happy weekend! PS, I appreciate your comment and visit.

What a wonderful pictorial here! My son has eagles on his property and they are awesome. We have watched them swoop down and grab fish right out of the bay! That last picture of the man on horseback is great!
Happy weekend, Diane. xo Diana

Wow! What a great photoshoot of the eagle. I don't think I've ever seen an eagle in the wild. That was thrilling.

More wonderful photos. I have never even seen a Bald Eagle. Well, 'guess there are none here in Alabama. The weather there really looks great too.

Happy Sunday!

Great shots! The Bald eagle looks similar to the Brahminy kite we have here.

Well done correctly identifying the Northern Harrier in flight - a little more difficult than the Bald Eagle!!

You had wonderful views of that Bald Eagle. Great pix too Diane. I too could hit the trail in your Jeep if I lived nearby.

Hello Diane, :=) A fruitful outing with so many different creatures to photograph. I like them all!, but especially the Northern Harrier and the Bald Eagle. Diane, you can never take too many photos, I take loads and loads of them. I will look forward to seeing the ones you didn't show.

Eva is, a pretty name. I didn't know anyone by that name, until I read your comment.
Hugs and Take care.

All of your critters here are adorable but there's something especially cute about the Bluebird, maybe as he's trying to hide carefully out of sight?! What a gorgeous day you had and thanks for taking us along too!

Great eagle photos. We see them so often here that it's not a big deal, but if we saw one of those Anhingas or an Eastern Bluebird - that would be something! Enjoy the sunshine!

It's always such a treat to see the Eagle, cause it's such a grand bird.
That's so nice that you pack apples and cheese and nuts and Wheat Thins
on your hikes each time. You must work up an appetite on the trails.
That butterfly photo is so lovely. Reminds me of Autumn!
