As we walked on the Withlacoochee Bay Trail we were snapping our necks side to side and up and down.
There were SO many birds to see!
We didn't get good photos of them all but at least we could make an ID and write a list when we got home.
The very first bird we saw was an American Bald Eagle.
We photographed another one at the end of the trail so it was quite exciting.
Lots of Cormorants flying low just above the canal and others high in the sky.
Cormorant on sand bar
Osprey
Anhinga
And then there are those we don't see here in the forest.
American Oystercatcher
Hooded Merganser
White Pelican
American Oystercatcher and Ring-billed Gull
A few comical critters too. The Brown Pelican.
I caught a fish THIS BIG!
Oh, and I have him in my pouch to snack on later! lol
I hope you've had a chance to get out in nature!
Wish you could all join me for a hike this week!

Fun picture of the pelican!
So many birds! Y'all might want to look into an electric neck massager. :)
Hello Diane,
What a great variety of birds, they are all great sightings. I love the pelicans, the Oystercatcher, Eagles and Osprey are all wonderful birds.
You do find some great places for you hikes, pretty scenic views and photos.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend!
You and I are living the dream! If I weren't keeping grandkids which I love, I would be right where you are. I hope to get to the bird watching if a few more years. It will be truly fun. Take care and an eagle is always a great sighting.
The eagle sighting is a thrill for me even in a photo far, far away. Excellent picture taking!
...fabulous sightings. Now say Withlacoochee quickly 10 times!
You really got some great photos. I feel like I am right there, which is good because it is an icky weather weekend here in Atlanta. xo Laura
Those shots of the Bald Eagle are simply stunning Diane. The Osprey too. About that coffee. That sky looks so blue, so inviting and so warm, even hot? I think it will have to be a cold beer (or two) in place of coffee. Put a few bottles in the fridge and I'll be along as soon.
you are going to need coats for sure on hiking this week and don't plan any hikes for Sunday per our weather man.. that walk is absolutely gorgeous. Florida is so beautiful, excepgt of course on our interstates. ha ha
So many great shots, the eagle is my favorite of all. I haven't had much time out in nature lately and I sure do miss it. Have a great weekend!
You are so lucky to live in an area with great birds and beautiful weather. Lovely photos!

Love the America Bald Eagle. Where I live, in Lazio Region (Italy) I have never seen an eagle!
Have a good Sunday.
Excellent shots and what a great series of bird photos. Love the eagle shots. Enjoy your weekend!
This is so thrilling I think I got goosebumps! Thanks for sharing
Hi Diane
Fantastic blogging in Florida, you caught everything. The Bald Eagle was the my favourite.
What a wonderful assortment of birds that you saw that day. There are few birds venturing out here today since it was -20˚C this morning. I have only seen a few sparrows.
Marvelous photos of our feathered friends ~. my favorite is the Bald Eagle ~ so majestic ~ Xo

Aren't they beautiful? My son has Bald Eagles in the cottonwoods in his backyard on the bay. They are amazing to watch! I hope you and hubby have a great weekend- xo Diana
So many wonderful birds. With all that neck snapping going on, it's a good thing you didn't get a kink in your neck!
You had another great walk - a huge assortment of birds to see and photograph!
Diane, that shot of the eagle is beyond beautiful. What a wonderful day for you!
Eagles are such beautiful birds!!
What a treat to see them in person.
Well I took this post straight to Mr Front Porch so he could see it!!----THE EAGLE!! Wow, great pictures. I would so love to see one of those! Love all the bird pictures but this is my favorite. Funny how those anhingas sit like that, they do the same exact pose here, with their wings all out, I guess drying them off or airing them out maybe? Hope you have a great weekend my friend!
Beautiful birds and pics. The Bald eagle is my favourite.
What a wonderful series of photos of the bird sightings.
The bald eagle is my favorite.
I wish you a nice Sunday.
Greetings Irma
Wow, you did see a lot of birds. Love the shot of the eagle.
Such a great walk. I enjoy seeing the results, and you have all the additional memories of the birds you didn't photograph. The enjoyment of the moment is the best thing of all, anyway.
As always, enjoyed your photos and narrative.
That is a first for me...to see a merganser out of water on land! ...thanks for linking in this week!
WoW!!!!! what awesome images...so many beautiful birds!! the eagles are just amazing, gorgeous pictures!!
LOVE the hooded merganser, i am seeing them here now. the pelicans are such a treat because we do NOT see them in this area!!
it's 12 degrees right now, i am not going anywhere today!!
Absolutely beautiful photos of the birds. I especially love the photos of the Bald Eagle. Enjoy your day, hugs, Edna B.
Hi Diane, beautiful walk. I like the landscape, the beautiful weather. And the birds, especially the eagle. Have a nice week.
The Eagle is such a wonderful and GRAND bird to see out in nature. I love how regal he looks every time. The White Pelican is such a beauty too. You saw many different birds on the trail, and I liked that one with feathers on top of his head, he's a cutie.
Have a restful weekend, Diane.

Great sightings.
Great photographs.
Hoping your weekend has been a good one.
All the best Jan
Amazing photos my friend! I love the photo's of the Pelican... such a fascinating bird.
Wonderful photo of the bald eagle preening itself. I'm ready for a bit of nature adventure, but we're waiting for the temperatures to get above 40 degrees. I'm not fond of freezing anymore.
Lovely for you to get to the beach! Yay -- wonderful birds.
wow, that´s a great collection of birds.
the eagle is majestic to see in your shots. And I always loved to see anhinga with their long necks. A bird we don´t have. We have Oystercatcher but last summer I did not see any. :(
Hopefully I will next one.
