Cross Florida Greenway "Felburn Park"

We walk a lot of the Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway trails and love finding sections that are new to us.

This hike started at J. Phil & Ethyll L. Felburn Park and followed the canal.

You could either stay on the paved trail or get off onto the primitive trail.

We did some of both!

Isn't this a beautiful Hawk?

Seagull, Mockingbird, Hawk and Great Florida birding sign.

Red berries and a beautiful flower in bloom.

Isn't this the craziest vine you've ever seen?

And sometimes I think it looks like we live in the wild West instead of Florida! But here we are driving the Jeep along a dirt road with wooden fences, cedar trees and brown grasses as far as the eye can see. (the palm trees might give it away though)

Do you have a nice park near you with walking trails?

You are blessed with such nice park for walking. We don't have such parks near to us but we are thankful we can have our morning walks around our house and get to see some nice sunrises and sunsets.

that is one weird vine, and one I have never seen in our parks and on our trails. I tried the computer to see what it is but it just said TREE ha ha. did not see the vine. the view in your header, I want a log cabin with windows that when I look out I can see that view. I just love it. and i like the trail that is not changed by man best. you already know that there are many parks and trails around where I live. just no one to hike with. bob can't and I only do early am and the one friend i have who can still walk is a evening walker. i refuse to go by myself

p.s. if I was still hiking the park i would have to have a new camera.

Great photos. We have several of those parks, Diane. I haven't hiked in a long time and won't this time of year...lol. We are all the way up to 23˚F this morning though. Gonna be a good day.
It's funny how people think all of Florida is developed and commercialized. Unless you live there you know there are vast sweeps of land that is undeveloped or rural. xo Diana

You have so many wonderful and walkable parks where you live. It's always fun to come along on a hike.

Great bird shots. There are some wonderful parks and greenways here in Naples Florida and surrounding area. I love my walks on the beach the most.

I love seeing Hawks. We have too much wildlife at home and they help, but eating some of the varmints. Plus, they're fun to watch fly. Looks like you had a great hike and pretty scenery. A bit cool today, but the sun is out; so hope to get out and get a walk in; maybe a shorter distance than normal due to the cold, but...something.

Love the bird photos, it is a nice looking Hawk! The landscapes are pretty, that is a strange looking vine. Yes, we are lucky to have many parks and trails here for hiking and birding. Take care, enjoy your day! Have a great new week!

That vine is completely bizarre. I've never seen anything like it. It would be fun to see in person.

You get lots of miles in hiking. What wonderful spaces and the birds are so sweet. I love seeing the different landscapes. I was asking everyone if they know LaVoice at Thoughts from Meme's Corner? Her niece thinks if we all send get well messages to her she may regain her strength from being so ill with the virus. I can be reached 53strait@gmail.com to give anyone her address who will send a card.
I hope life is treating you well. I have been away from blogging for a while. It is so nice to see you here.

HUGS & LOVE across the miles

Ha -- the Wild West with palm trees! (That road does look like some we like to explore "back home" in Oregon. It's good to have a four-wheel drive even if you don't need to go into it always -- I feel safer with it (plus they are so comfortable nowadays). I don't have as many nearby walking trails as you do, but what I really don't have enough of is ambition and time to walk the ones we do have ;>)

How I wish I could hike on those trails with you. We are knee deep in snow today.

great walking paths! You are right, it doesn't look like Florida, it looks like our desert land in California.

Sure. It's called the cemetery. ; >

Yes, he's a handsome hawk. Do you go hiking in cold weather? Have
heard that it will be way down in the 30s in Florida soon.

Lakeland and Polk County have so many trails and parks to explore! So, yes to your question! Beautiful photos! Hawks (all of them) are so majestic looking! Thanks for always taking us along!! xo

Diane - a fabulous hawk, indeed. Last week, we drove to Idaho Falls to help our son move for his new job, and we saw over 50 raptors, just one way!

My walking trail is the beach here in Costa Rica. But I'll be walking the trails in Florida again soon enough.

Hi,
I like the delicate pink flower, I wonder if it is a wild sweet pea?
The vine is amazing, I have never seen anything like it!

Hi Diane

Nice hawk photos and that was such an unusual vine!

Our neighborhood has over 45 miles of trails that lead up and around the foothills. They are a bit muddy now with snowmelt. so we stick to the paved trails that are in the greenbelts this time of year.

Yes, Ft. Worth has many choices of places to walk. Some almost too groomed, others a bit wilder. I would like to hike with you. You don’t miss anything. That is a wild vine! Janey

I like that dirt road with the fence photo. It looks like a country road. That is a pretty Hawk, and they always looks regal to me. Love your Header photo, it's so lovely, Diane.

Have a peaceful weekend doing all the things you love. I planned on a visit to the Creek today. Nature is calling me lately. ; )

I loved looking at all of those wonderful photos of the park Diane. It's just too cold here to get out for any long walks, just short ones. I hope you enjoy the end of the week Diane.

Wonderful photos as always of our beautiful Florida hiking trails and parks. I'm so glad you are sharing them with the rest of the world to help them know Florida has more than just theme parks and beaches. But then again, we don't want to give all the secrets away or we will be OVERRUN with MORE people and that would ruin the beauty of our natural state.
The vine was very interesting. Was it thorny? I am trying to identify it. It is similar to one I've seen that is just plain green, but thorny. Anyway, I love your pictures. Thank you for sharing your wonderful hikes.
