Sometimes the small birds we see get missed in my posts.
There are always the 'one of a kind' critters that get more attention.
Like this 'wild' bunny rabbit. He's sitting on the concrete steps that riders use to get up and down off their horses. Here at the 49th Ave Trailhead there are hiking trails, bike trails, horse trails and mountain biking trails. I've never actually seen anyone get off their horse here but then I've never seen a bunny use them either!
We are seeing big flocks of Warblers and I don't always know the proper ID.
I know most of the ones along this trail are pine and palm Warblers. These are Pine Warblers.
Female Common Yellowthroat
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Downy Woodpecker
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Eastern Phoebe
Black and white Warbler
Little Blue Heron
And last and maybe least.....
a lizard showing off his Dewlap.
Did you know that is it called a Dewlap? Well, you learn something new every day!
And I learned A LOT when I posted this! My bird buddy Wally Jones helped me with the IDs! Thank you so much! That's what friends are for!!! His blog is HERE. And thanks to everyone for their birthday wishes! I'm still celebrating! 🎂

Hello Diane,
Wonderful captures of the warblers, you saw a nice variety of birds.
The wild bunny is cute, must be lost. I like the Little Blue Heron photo and the cute lizard. Dewlap may be a new word for me, I did not know. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Thank you for brightening up a soggy Saturday morning!
What lovely critters you provided for us to enjoy with our coffee. That lizard's dewlap always reminds me of a strawberry.
As for that wild bunny, I think I've encountered one like it deep in the swamp. But that might have been a dream ...
We hope your weekend will be as beautiful as the photographs you have let us see!
Nice bird pics today. Love seeing the warbler eating the bug and the woodpecker eating one too.
I did know about the dewlap, only because when I got my first small Kodak Easy share in 2002, I started many years of taking photos of our guys in the backyard showing their dewlap, calling out to the females. I love small bright yellow birds. this one is so cute. that bunny is pretty close to realistic. I wonder is some child is missing it
Exceptional photos of your bird sightings. I hope the bunny finds his way home somehow. Yes, keep celebrating! If this is the second comment, please delete. I was told the first was an "oops...that's an error."
Great photos!! The bunny is cute and I hope the person who forgot it there gets it back! :) Love the birds and have no idea what they are so I learn something(s) new every time I visit your blog!! xo
Wonderful series of photos with our feathered friends and the lizard ~ that bunny doesn't look real to me ~ Xo ~
Wishing you lots of loving moments,

Great photos of the birds!
I think the wild bunny is pretty darned adorable! And so are your beautiful birds.
You caught some lovely little birds. I have so much trouble doing an ID on warblers.
Is that your bunny? It is adorable.
I hope it makes it home. :)
I do love the Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, first time I've heard of it.
You took such nice photos of the birds. I hope you are having a nice weekend and getting out for those hikes.
I loved all of these, but they dewlap is dessert!
Cute little "wild" bunny :)
I'm looking forward to warmer weather and the music of the song birds. It's very quiet around here in the winter.
I know nothing about lizards so I truly did learn something new :)
Wishing you a lovely day. It is so nice seeing that you get outside and enjoy your surroundings. There is so much beauty in our world, we just have to open our eyes.
...I like critters that don't move so quickly, his one is for me!
Hello,
What a delightful series of critters!
The birds are all very cute but the lizard is a true surprise. 😃
What a wonderful series of photos. The lizard showing off his dewlap is amazing. I never knew what a dewlap was until now. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend.
You really capture the birds in their habitat. I'm impressed with your photography skills. I can't hold the camera still enough to zoom in and focus.
Great collection of bird photos.
Terrific shot of the lizard!
A lovely series of photographs.
I think the lizard showing his dewlap is amazing.
Enjoy your weekend and birthday celebrations.
All the best Jan
You never know what you will see on the trail! Too funny! Love seeing all the different little birds. Never knew about dewlaps - learn something new every time I visit. x K
How fortunate to come upon a wild bunny rabbit. I've never seen one quite like that one before. Fantastic photos, and the lizard seems like a bonus. I see your birthday was yesterday, and I want to wish you a happy birthday. Your birthday photos were fun to look at.
what a great bird week, i am seeing a lot of warblers up here too!! they are just a bit quick for my lens!! awesome capture of the little blue heron...
i did not know that was called a dewlap, i see them at my sons house all the time in chapel hill!!

Beautiful captures!
I wondered what that 'thing' was called! A dewlap!!! Thank YOU!!!
Beautiful sightings and capture! I like the lizard with the dewlap, looks lovely,
Yes, I learned the term dewlap when I was a child. I like the bunny!
Beautiful photos of the different types of birds, many are not found in the Netherlands.
The wild bunny is so cute.
I enjoyed your photos.
Greetings Irma
Lots of warblers there for you Diane. And you had a good tutor in our mutual friend Wally.
That bunny doesn't look too lively though. Are you sure it was ok?
You had a birthday?! I missed it...happy, belated wishes Diane. Great sightings this weekend. And thanks for stopping by to link in this week.
The birds looks beautiful 🐥😀!
Many humans develop dewlaps later in life!
Dewlap? Well, I guess I never checked to see what that thing was before! I'm glad to know it has a nice name! They sure love to show those dewlaps off!! Wow, you saw some beautiful warblers, etc.,...and got some great photos! But that rabbit! Well, that's one of a kind for sure! I wonder if some poor child lost it...I hope it gets back to its family. Have a wonderful continued birthday!!!
Wow! The lizard with the dewlap! I didn't even know they had one. So, I learned something new today.
I did not know that it was called a Dewlap! That bunny is adorable! Enjoy your day, hugs, Edna B.
Oh I love those bird pictures! Hopefully whoever left that cute rabbit will return for it. Hope you are having a great weekend…Janey
Beautiful birds from your hike. Though I do not like lizards but I think this one is quite pretty, showing off its dewlap. I am learning a new word today. Happy new week.
A beautiful collection of birds (and lizard) photos. Keep on celebrating!
concrete steps that riders use to get up and down off their horses??? Really??Don´t they know how to do it?? Unless it is handicapped people of course.
Love all birds and the lizard.
Me encanta ver tantos pájaros, el lagarto es precioso. Besos.
What an unusual looking lizard. I've never seen the dewlap before. You saw many birds on this trip. I used to see the Phoebe sometimes in my old town, and I've always thought it was a precious bird. Something about him. And those yellow birds sure are pretty. The rabbit is cute too. ; )

So many beautiful birds! I can't tell what that yellow pine warbler is eating. How funny that you encountered a "wild" rabbit. Doesn't look like a native species. 🤣
I had winter the last 2 weekends in January. Enough already - I didn't move to Florida to be cold! I'm glad you had a great birthday - lovely cards, restaurant looks nice, and of course I Love the birds.
Hi Diane, I'm late getting around to commenting on some of your posts, but don't want to miss any of them. In this post, what an amazing capture of the Warbler getting a bug out of the spider web!
