Photo Challenge–Shadow Play

I’m enjoying the photo challenges each month but I have figured out what is most challenging! Finding only 1 to 3 photos to share. I have two to share but I need the two ‘shadows’ plus one more. If Donna kicks me out of the challenge, look for me in the courtyard. I’ll be ‘reading’! heehee!

When I walk behind one of our red sofas in the living room, my eyes are drawn outside to the courtyard. It’s where we have our bird feeders and the view out to the golf course is pretty.

But one morning I saw this….

and I turned and saw what was being reflected into the courtyard with all of these neat shadows.

Well, I just had to take another one a month later, when Papa’s birthday cards were on display and some nesting dolls had found a spot on a shelf.

Again….what it looked like inside.

Here’s a bigger view of the courtyard to see what the ‘eye’ sees. And any way I do the math, I’m pretty sure this puts me over the limit of 3.

Do you love these little shadow tricks?

I didn’t alter these in any way. I wanted you to see what I saw!

Thanks Donna for the fun!

LOL! Kick you out of the photo challenge? Never! Nobody ever gets punished for enthusiasm.

I can see that the challenges are making you more aware and that you are actively looking for photo opportunities - great! You noticed shadows, in this case, by looking at reflections. Neat trick! And thank you for sharing your inspiration method.

You did a lovely job capturing the gloriously deep shadows of early morning light. The diagonal lines add to the visual interest, and the golden light is warm and inviting.

P.S. Don't forget to do your linkup on the photo challenge blog!

Hi Diane
The shadows on the bookcase are fun, and made more interesting from the texture from what I assume is a screen? Kind of a ghosting effect.

I like that strong diagonal and all the beautiful books and rich colors. The reflection scenes are the extra. Well done!

Very interesting! I like the last one the best. I don't think
I know what shadows look like anymore-- haven't seen the sun in a looooong time.

Diane, these days just about everywhere is shadow free thanks to dull, dark, rainy, snowy days!!! Lucky you in Florida - bet you can chase shadows almost every day!!!!

Love the bookcases - those Russian dolls were so pretty when I saw them in Russia last June - I bought several sets for little girls, it was hard to choose from such a huge selection in the gift shop.

Glad you joined in -
Hugs - Mary

Beautiful, the softness of the bookshelf & books reminds me of an attic in a grandmother's house, old books, dusty and cherished.

Have a wonderful weekend. Prudence won't come out of her blankie, afraid of another -3 degree morning, silly bear. But she sends her love.

The Russian dolls make such an interesting image.
I know what you mean it is very difficult to pare down to just three photos!

Diane, you put some thought into these for sure. Great job. I did a last minute post since furnace problems and car problems kept us busy this week.

These are fun shots, both the shadows and reflections, and then the real thing for comparison. You live in such a sunny part of the world, especially just now. Soak some up for the rest of us!

These are really interesting. It almost looks like the books are painted on the wall. Thanks for sharing Diane.

I'm a librarian by trade, so I really like your photos of the bookshelves. The shadows give them an air of mystery, just like the covers of books. Nice job!
