These aren’t what we normally review.
But I have to say, I was thrilled to find them at the thrift store for $1 each and I’ve enjoyed looking through them and reading stories I haven’t read in years.
They even have dust covers!
The Blue Fairy book by Andrew Lang was published in 1959.
The Red Fairy book was published in 1960.
The stories are a joy to read and the illustrations are delightful.
I’m joining Ricki Jill for Literary Friday.
How long has it been since you read wonderful classic stories like these?
(and how much longer can I stay in ‘fairyland’?)

I've never seen those! They look like good, fun reads though.
Does Charlie Brown's Christmas count?? I read that every year. LOL. Those two books you have found are very nice. I never have heard of them. They look in great condition for their age. Blessings to a fun day, xoxo,Susie
Oh, I would have grabbed them up just for the beautiful illustrations!
Oh what a find. I would love those for my little granddaughters. We live in fairyland. Tomorrow we are going on a six garden fairy garden tour. I never grew up. Have a wonderful weekend.
What cute books! I love the illustrations on the front. I would have grabbed them too!
What wonderful treasures.
Hehehe loved the comment does Charlie Brown count?
I recently found Charlottes web.
Not real real old but I sure do love.
Woolie Hugs
What great finds!!
Hi Diane,
Yes you have to love thrift stores and old children's books. I think that should be a law.
I still wish you could read "Hetty her first 100 years". I see you can still get old copies on amazon for not much.
I might go to the thrift later today.

I've never heard of those but they look charming. What a find!
What fun these are, Diane!! And I love it that you put up that fun header. ♥
Great finds, Diane! And I love it that you put up the new header. It's so magical and cute. Have a lovely weekend.
I loved fairy tales for a very long time. My 3 year old granddaughter is getting into them now and it's fun to revive the old stories for her. Those books look wonderful. Great find!
How fun! (And stay in fairy land as long as you want!)
I love your header!! Alice is a favorite character of mine. I did not have those two fairy tale books, but what a find for you! I've missed stopping by!
I love finding old books at the thrift store that I enjoyed as a child. The children nowadays don't know half of those great stories.

Wonderful books and great stories! I love children's books!
hugs to you sweet sis!

It's been awhile. You can stay there as long as you feel lovely...why not?!
Oh, I love these fairy books, Diane. They look so old with delightful stories in them. Books like this are such treasures, don't you think?
Have a very nice weekend.
love,

What a wonderful find. Last year I re-read Little Women when I won a give away from Ricki Jill. I've got lots of Trixie Beldon books that I should re-read. It seems I liked mystery stories way back then too :)
It's been way too long!
I do love to occasionally watch a children's movie.
You're never too old to enjoy your
'younger' you!
These look darling! What a find! Thanks for popping in to see me and hope you're doing well.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Great finds. Been way too long since I've read any of the books. Maybe I'll renew my friendship with them with Sean, my 9 month old grandson very soon. How are you dear friend? I've been so busy have not had time to catch up on all going on with you, till now. Have a great week end.

i wish i can get them here..i will look :)
enjoy them xxx
Hi Diane, it's been a really long time since I've read one! Too long! Lol! Take care and enjoy.

Oh what wonderful books, love them both. Been along time from reading a classic, Blessings Francine.
what beautiful books, they are truly treasures, the dust covers too! I just read Anne Of Green Gables, and sometimes I reread Nancy Drew, lol, I just love old books,
If I may say so rather than staying in fairyland, you can take regular trips there anytime you feel like doing so. This way you will still be able to go hiking around Florida, chase fences, craft ans sew beautiful things, review books, take amazing pictures, spend time with your love ones, blog and have fun in fairyland ;-) I have got the feeling I'm forgetting something.
Take care!
Arlette
I think you live with one foot in fairyland all the time.
I'm sure that I'm dating myself, but I haven't ever read or even heard of those stories! But then again, it was published before I was even born. Glad that you found some nostalgia as you re-read them.
oops! I take that back. I have read Jack and the Beanstalk. Didn't see that one in there.
You live however it makes you happy, I say. Love your finds and did I ever say that I love your header? If not, I do!! Have a nice weekend, Diane!
Oh I have a post on my Graceful Touch blog about Fairy Tales! LOL! I was shocked at how scary and...well I was glad my mom didn't read me some of those Grim Fairy Tales. I have some of my Mom's and they are illustrated beautifully though! We wrote some Holy Tales for our writers group! That was fun and everyone had something different to share! :)
Hi Diane,
What lovely old books you bought - love the sweet illustrations.
Wishing you a happy weekend
hugs
Carolyn
What precious books you found Diane.
I would love to read them.
Just looking at the covers, takes me back to my childhood.
There is the child in all of us.
I love fairies.
happy summer days

What a great find for these delightful books! I can't remember the last time I read fairy tales. The illustrations look amazing.
Lucky lady!!!
Congrats on such amazing finds!!!!!!!!!
I read a fairy before bed most nights:)
Great banner Diane!!
Great finds. I love vintage books and the sweet illustrations.
I lived those books as a child! I think there was a white fairy book too. I took them out of the library a lot. What a find, lucky you!!
What fun to revisit some old stories and see the lovely illustrations as well in these old books!
I call them treasures and you are the best owner for them.
