Enjoying the Summer in Florida!

We packed a lot into the holiday weekend. Even though we are retired, it’s still fun to do something special for the holidays.

IMG_5730

It’s been too hot to hike but we woke up to a beautiful morning on the 4th and drove down to the Withlacoochee Bridge in Dunnellon to walk on the new trail. It was 83 degrees which wasn’t too bad.

And the scenes along the trail were worth it.

We hiked for 1 hr 20 min and this was our 31st hike of the year.

Hubby took my new profile pic in the sidebar and the rest of these I took. I didn’t alter any of them. They are straight out of the camera.

Did you get outside to enjoy nature over the holiday weekend?

We did get outside--to work in the garden. Yesterday we drove to Estes Park, a mountain tourist destination where we met a couple who summer there and winter in Sarasota,FL where they do guided fishing tours. Your photos are lovely. I never realized how pretty Florida is and what a variety of landscape it offers.

Hi Miss Lavender Dreams,

Yes, but all we have to do is step out on our upstairs porch and we are surrounded by trees and nature. And, it was 54 degrees on the 4th and that was exciting.

Hugs,
Prudence ♥

Love those Florida scenes! And a great new profile picture! We had Florida-like weather here with more humidity I have felt since moving here! I love those little rivers that run throughout Florida - I miss scenes such as that since we are in drought conditions here. Ann

That looks like a beautiful hike. The weather here on the weekend was really delightful too, like it sounds like yours was. Low humidity makes a world of difference! Your little dolls in earlier post are so sweet! I spent some of the weekend catching up after being away and trying hard not to take a nap!

What a beautiful place to walk Diane. I would love that and I think it's great that you and your hubby are getting out on so many wonderful hikes together. We had a wild weekend here with Tropical Storm Arthur arriving early Saturday morning so we didn't get out at all to enjoy nature. In fact, much of nature has been destroyed in Arthur's wake with thousands of beautiful trees torn from their roots. It's a different world out there this week but we are thankful to be safe and received only minor damage. Hugs, Pam

Diane,
Wow, these are great pictures, and you didn't work with them at all. Florida looks so green. I'm glad you had a good time on your hike. I just saw a deer in one of the back neighborhoods here. It was certainly a sight.

Thank you for the birthday wishes for Nel. It means so much to me.

love,

Beautiful pictures. My first visit to your site.
I love that you don't "enhance" your photos. I guess there is a place for that in the art world, but I prefer straight out of the camera or whatever they call it.
