I love books, especially vintage books!
And when they are children’s books,
I am ‘over the moon’ with JOY!
I found these in the lobby of the library among the ‘books for sale’!
The mystery for boys AND the Carolyn Keene mystery are both 1934 books.
I took them to our library table to enjoy for awhile.
I change the books on top of this table pretty often. Oh…and do I see a stack of maps?
They are always fun to peruse here too.
A glimpse of the bookcases behind the table.
My favorite find is an old reader like this one.

Don’t you love the illustrations in this old 1938 reader, The Road to Safety?
And let me add one more so that you can see the little Fall peg doll!

I'm setting up a little area in our upstairs as a reading/library area. You are making me want to collect those pretty old kids books. :)
Hello Diane,
Such a lovely post.
I think having children's books close to us.. gives us a sense of security.. takes us back to when we were with mum and dad and our school days..
I gave a lot of mine away.. I have a couple that are boxed up somewhere of my childrens.. must try get them out.
lovely books ..really lovely.
happy tuesday.. val
Those are lovely books! Yes, the illustrations are the best! Thanks for linking up at Vintage Bliss Tuesdays. Jo
Yes, I certainly do love the illustrations in the old readers. I too have a library full of them. They're wonderful old books. Also like your rotary phone. Can't believe we think of them as vintage now. Good grief. LOL
Diane, old books are a love of mine as well. And I love your library and the beautifully styled bookshelves.
oooo, what a find, I love the old mystery books, they are so hard to find! Your peg doll, is a "doll", lol!! so cute!!
I have to comment on the vintage telephone. We saw one in the antique store and one of the grand kids asked what it was. The books are lovely. I wondered if it was as much of a struggle to get kids to red in the '30s as it is today. You look ready to welcome fall, Diane.
Those books are just wonderful and the illustrations are delightful! Love your fall vignettes.
Hi Diane. So do I. Love the vintage book and your pictures. Have a wonderful weekl. HUGS! ;) NI
You have some really neat books! I love how you have everything set up ... so inviting:)
I know how you love your books and especially vintage children's books. Love that peg doll, so cute! Your library table is a great idea!
Happy Fall Hugs,
Linda
I too love old books and like to use them in displays.
I love the colors of the books you chose- fun for display.
I can never find enough old books, or enough room to house them.

Books are like old friends, and I, too, adore children's vintage books.
I LOVE your old books! I have been simplifying - going minimalist, and I have to say, my books have been the most difficult to purge...
What wonderful finds. Anything Carolyn Keene has my attention. xo Laura
Is that a Carolyn Keene book that isn't a Nancy Drew? I don't see any mention of it....
I love old books too! They are always so much fun to decorate with! :) Happy Autumn! xo Holly
Diane, Did you know that Nellie of" berries and more ", has a love of books as strong as yours. I love the drawings of old books so much. Blessings to you. xoxo,Susie
You got some wonderful finds and I too love vintage books...I have a bunch. I love the idea of a library table in your home.
Yep, there it is. :) Me too with the vintage books. And children's books both old and new.
What great old books - love the covers.

I rarely get envious, it is just not in my nature, but when I saw your book finds, oh, my.......
Even though I was a child of the 60's those books look like something we would have read! I love your rotary phone!
Hugs,
Deb
Reading is something we all need to do more of, especially ME! I sure do like the old books and the unique illustrations!!
Oh a great find! Wish I still had some of my childhood books.
I collect old readers also and some other textbooks. I love the illustrations and I am often amazed at the advanced skills needed to read them. Great finds.
Great finds! I just love books!! I also like how you put out maps to look at, that is a fun idea.
Your latest children's books are a wonderful find, Diane! I love to collect them too :)
Wishing you a happy week.

What wonderful finds.
I love books.
I bet you were skipping,
Have a wonderful day.
Woolie Blessings
I spy that Carolyn Keene book. Is that a Nancy Drew? Maybe the cover would have made it more obvious. I'm sure I've read it!
These are so much fun! Love the graphics inside and out. Thanks Diane for sharing them at Vintage Inspiration Party.
I love the old books too -- I have some of the ones that were on my parents' bookshelves, and a few of the special ones that were mine. It's fun to use them here and there in the house -- they are so lovely! Your little peg doll is a cutie!
Old books are favourites of mine, too. How fun to find an old Carolyn Keene. That's a treasure! Cute little peg doll. Does she like to read, too?
I love books old and new. It's banned book week so I am reading a banned book this week. xo, olive
I love to collect old children's books, too. What treasures! Thanks for sharing on Songbird's blog.
Sweet books. Love your displays for Fall.
Debbie
Oh, these vintage books look delightful, Diane. I love children's books too and just bought one yesterday. The name of it is Pumpkin Soup by Helen Cooper. Have you heard of it? I thought Jess would like to read it to her second grade class. Your library is very nice, and you have a fine selection of books.
Happy Autumn, my friend.
love,
~Sheri
The old books are neat-o!
Diane, I love all those books. I am drawn to children's books and readers, too. Thanks for sharing them. The illustrations are always great.
I love old books too. They're so fun to discover and look through. My daughter is a big fan too and has quite a collection going. Your doll is cute. :-)
I wish I had a 'proper' library. Not too big, but traditional in decor...dark paneling, fireplace and room just big enough for two large, soft cozy chairs. Then I'd have lots and lots of books, and hopefully lots of vintage ones too! Remember Dick and Jane? Wish I could find some of those.

this was fun to see : ) I too love old books.
Oh, yes, I love old children's books. and their illustrations are wonderful. They showed real talent.
I have a weakness for vintage books. In fact, I have so many I ran out of places to put them. Time to get creative.
The feel of fall and your vintage books, perfect! You always have a stash of vintage books discovery. I hope you can do a post showcasing your library of books. Please tell us stories behind your books. I would love to see your collections!
Love the books!
