I love jars…
and jars with red lids are even better.
I think of craft projects or a nice heavy jar for seashells.
And this one had a name across the red lid so it was easy to ‘google’.
So what do they have in common?
SAMAE was considered a miracle cleaner back in the ‘40s and ‘50s.

It was a powder like Bon Ami. I ‘swear’ by Bon Ami. It’s the cleaner I’ve used for almost 50 years! “Hasn’t scratched yet”
Have you ever seen one of these jars?

I have never seen one of those jars, and I don't think I have see Bon Ami lately either. Have been using Comet as my sinks and tub were scratched up when we moved here.

Nope- Never seen one of those..AND I never heard of Somae! I use BarKeeper's Friend and have had good luck with that, too.
Hope you are having a great week! xo Diana
ps. You DO know that you have word verification on here, right?
Hi Diane
No I haven't seen the vintage Bon-Ami jar before.
I use to be wild about vintage kitchen items and had a kitchen full.
I'm out of Bob-Ami now so will add that to my list to get at Target today
Thanks for always stopping by my blog
Janice
That always reminds me of the movie "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken." "And they used Bon Ami!!"
I don't believe I've ever seen a jar like that. Looks like something from the 40's perhaps?
I share your love of Bon Ami Diane. We owned a cleaning biz for 14 years and although it was a bit pricey to provide it to the teams regularly, we felt it was worth it. As you said, it doesn't scratch!

I've never heard of it or seen it but I do like the jar too.
I've never seen a jar like that nor have I heard of that product. Nice jar tho.
I have never seen one Diane...I always used Comet. Will check out Bon Ami.
Hi Diane, no I never saw one of those jars and it's amazing that it was a cleaner. I use bon ami in my house too and love it. Take care.

I haven't seen one of those jars. I do use the Bon Ami. Much better than Comet. That stuff gets in your lungs.
It's a good thing that you have two houses since you have so many wonderful collections.
Hi Sweet Friend,
Well, no I have not-but I find it interesting that just last night the hubby and I were thinking of old remedies for cuts and we thought of methiolade -remember how our Moms put it on us and it stung!
Just thinking of the past today-

Very cool! So, are you going to fill it?:@)
I've never seen a jar like that, but it looks so fun! I grew up with my mom always using 'Bon Ami'! :)

No, I have never seen a jar like that or heard of it either, very interesting!
Have never seen one of these jars. Cute as can be and so many options of doing things with them! You've got a keeper there.
I've never seen one, but I sure wish they would put cleanser in these today!
What a find, Diane.
Never heard of Bon Ami. I always learn new things from everyone's blogs!
I have never heard of it either and never used bon ami either.
I guess I need to get out more.

oooo, that is such a cool vintage bottle with the red top. How nice that you found out about it; it goes way back. I've never seen this brand before. Enjoy your newest treasure!
love,
~Sheri
I love seeing vintage ads and household items. Such a nice jar!
What an adorable jar.
Diane, I love the shape of that jar! I am sure you will do something great with it!
I've never seen that jar, but I am familiar with Bon Ami. While cleaning the homes of both my mother and grandmother after they passed away I came across many vintage jars, still half full of contents. I kept them all because it is so comforting to think of them picking up those jars, bringing them home from the store, and using them the same way I do today.
Nope, but now I'll be on the lookout for one.
My teenage daughter was telling me last night that Ajax actually has a meaning behind it -- it's a mythological character that was "Stronger than Grease (or Greece!)"
