I always love seeing tall palms out in the middle of the fields.
This field had Sandhill Cranes in it but I didn’t get a good close up.
(there’s one on the left AND one on the right)
When I went into my folders to grab a good close up, I couldn’t find one. Does that ever happen to you? Hundreds of photos but not exactly the one you want.
So here’s a Red bellied woodpecker I spotted in our bird feeder this week.
He’s handsome, don’t you think?

Hello Diane, pretty shot of the cranes in the field. And I love your woodpecker closeup. Great capture. Have a happy day!
Nice pictures, Diane! Love that handsome woodpecker!
Hello my friend! So busy here with all the graduation festivities. My "Great" Nephew graduates from H.S. this year, and it's my 50th anniversary for graduating from H.S. Where did the years go? LOVE that Woodpecker - he's very handsome indeed!! Hope you are well.
Sandhill Cranes stop here in Decatur on their way south Diane. The refuge near the Tennessee River is just full of them in the spring time. Amazing to see them. It is nice to see where they were headed.
Wow Diane, the woodpeker is stunning! What lovely colors he has :) And it looks like he is posing for you.
Have a wonderful day!
handsome red-belly, for sure! the palm looks like it's a cell tower or something out there all by itself. :)
We have a pair of woodpeckers this year - and a couple others . . . we've seen them in passing before but this year they are frequent visitors.
Nice shots! We hear sandhill cranes going over in the fall-- bad sign, winter coming. Then we hear them in early spring, good sign, spring coming!
What a handsome woodpecker. Your camera did a fantastic job. I hope you are continuing to heal well. Thinking of you!
Good Morning Diane, great fence pic and the palm out in the field is interesting. Love the woodpecker shot.
Hope your feeling better and healing nicely.
Hugs, CM
We don't have palms here but I adore seeing lone willow trees out in a pasture. The animals eat the branches as high as they can reach so they end up looking perfectly manicured.
Love the woodpecker picture!
I love the cranes! Hope you are healing well and feeling better.
hugs,
Linda
I have never seen a pine tree all out in a field like that...interesting! And WOW...the shot of that woodpecker is amazing and I will admit I am a little jealous! How far away were you from it and what kind of camera/lens did you use?
Fabulous picture of the woodpecker.
It looks like a bird house out yonder. I must bring it in closer. I could be mistaken as one says a palm tree.
Very handsome indeed. Hope you're feeling better Diane.
wow, some amazing photos, and the last bird one...fantastic!
Great close-up of the Red-belly!
~
oh, wow ....what a beauty!!
That lone palm, love it! Oh my, that woodpecker is adorable, colors are brilliant!
Hope you are better! Take good care!

Love the field - and of course the Cranes - we saw flocks of them in Wisconsin a few years back. I know what you mean about searching for the right photo - I carefully name my photos so I know what the picture is - even sometimes adding location to the name - and yet I search and search and can't find the one I want - and then when I'm not looking for it - there it is.
Lovely woodpecker - great photo.
I find it so unusual to see a Palm tree out in the middle of a field. We don't have palm trees here where I live. Neat to see the sandhill cranes and that was an awesome shot of the woodpecker.
Afternoon, great picture of the Woodpecker, love him. Always enjoy visiting you, beautiful scernry.Blessings Francine.
Nice shot of the green field and cranes and a gorgeous woodpecker!
Diane, my daughter has a palm tree in the middle of her back yard in NC. It looks strange to me but she loves it!
That woodpecker is gorgeous!
Have not seen a woodpecker like this in years. Nicely done.
It looks as if he's posing! A very good-looking bird.
That palm tree in the field is weird! :-) Love the woodpecker!
I see Woodpeckers in my yard a lot. I think they are beautiful. I went back and read about your accident. I'm glad it wasn't any worse. Hope you are feeling better by now. I've had falls myself, but none that bad. They sure can make one sore for awhile though. Blessings to you Daine.
Fabulous pictures. Glad to see you're getting back to feeling better. Hugs.
Great photos! Love that lonely Palm :-)
Carla
P.S.
Yes, I want you to teach me ocean fishing ;-))) LOL
Your woodpecker is beautiful...I enjoyed seeing him.
What a sharp photo of the red-bellied woodpecker!
This is a really great picture of the woodpecker. These things fascinate me....not sure if it's their color or their busyness.
Diane, I love all your birds photos. You have shown us so unusual ones. I like you mother's day gifts. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
p.s. me too...I am glad you are alive .
Awesome pictures, Diane. Hope you are beginning to feel better.
I never think of palms being in the middle of green fields, I always imagine them being surrounded by sand ☺ Beautiful picture of the woodpecker, he's gorgeous!
Great shot of the Woodpecker.
Beautiful shots!
That palm tree is so interesting! Our sandhill cranes have been back for a month or so now. I love seeing them! I also have that problem...when I want to find a certain picture I can't. I swear they just vanish into thin air.
I have a new blog and have posted pictures of our yard waking up.

Yes, that's a great photo of the red bellied woodpecker. I love the sound of the sandhill cranes. We have them here too, but I still don't have a really good shot of them. Have a wonderful day, Diane.
Oh that wonderful bird shot is fantastic! Here's hoping I will see one soon in my yard.
Have a wonderful weekend dear friend!

Great shots. He is handsome!
It can be so frustrating searching for the picture you know is somewhere. I think my computer eats the best ones!
The best part of driving down to visit my family in FL was always first hearing the palm trees whisper in the wind when we rolled our windows down. I knew I was near then.
Will it soon be time to go to the Blue Ridge again? I hope to visit my cousins in Flat Rock and Hendersonville sometime. Can't wait to be there again!
Love the woodpecker. Shame we don't have them here, he looks so handsome and proud of himself.
I love all the woodpeckers and you did a fantastic job of capturing him in all his handsomeness! :)
He's cute. He looks a little similar to a Gila woodpecker. xoox Su
I have that wood pecker I call him my tux bird he looks like he is wearing one.
Looks like a red "headed" woodpecker to me. LOL! Great photos...love those cranes.
The woodpecker shot is amazing! Lovely pasture scenes too.
