Can Money buy Happiness?

My 'obsession' with hiking is saving me money! REALLY!
When given the choice of going shopping or hiking, I ALWAYS choose hiking!
So I've been shopping less. I had already cut back on thrift store shopping because I have a house 'FULL' of stuff. And even though there are treasures to be had, I don't have any place to put them.

But on one cold morning, I had other errands to run so I made a quick stop at the old thrift store and found something I really 'needed'! heehee!

For $3 I got this plastic 11 inch by 14 inch Sterlite container filled with new colored pencils and drawing pencils. There are even cards to color and envelopes to go with them. I got the 2 packs of playing cards for another project.

So for $3 I found 'Happiness'!

I got a few more birthday gifts and cards in the mail too and wanted to share. Thanks to friends and family for everything!

So far, as cute as this tee shirt is....I don't think it works.

Not a single person has offered to give me directions!

I’m joining Thankful Thursdays.

I would prefer a hike as well. I have cut back on the shopping as well because I have nowhere to put anything too. Two peas in a pod!

Such a great find at the thrift store. Not all who wander are lost - I love this saying! I'm not a shopper either but I do miss having a nearby thrift store.

I haven't been to a thrift store in months and the last time there I didn't buy anything. I'm trying to downsize not add to my hoard! Love that tshirt Sis.

Good job on getting that treasure box!
If I lived where you do I think I would hike more than shop, too!
However....if I am going to do much walking before summer heat juts - I better hop to it!
Happy Belated Birthday to you!

Hiking over shopping is what I'd choose, too. But there are times.... Your pencil kit is a great find! I'm glad the birthday joy keeps going on for you!

Sometimes we don't know what we need until it calls our name at the thrift shop :). Fun finds!

I prefer anything over shopping, except of course appointments. shopping is something I do because bob will not and I have no one to shop for me. that is a great deal on the pencils. someone like me probably bought them and found they hated using them. I have a box like that. bought them and adult coloring book, colored half a page and gave the book away. kept the pencils for just in case. they have been in the cabinet unused for about 3 years I think... they cost a lot more than 3.00

I think I would prefer a hike over shopping as well. I just don't need/want as much as I used to. My only weekness might be craft supplies. They make me happy :)

Diane, good for you for hiking more than shopping. I haven't been shopping in a while and I should go hiking! Love your thrift find! And that shirt is so adorable. Maybe you need to wear it with a bewildered look on your face?

I get lost a lot too.

(That's why my wife made me buy a smartphone with a gps)

Lately my only thrift store visits have been to donate my stuff. Once I'm done though, there should be room for a few new finds. Love yours that's a lot of pencils and they are expensive. Great find.

It's good that there was something in the store that you needed and you did not buy something that might come in handy. I also definitely prefer hiking and spend money on it. Greetings.

What a cheery post, Diane! Glad you're saving money by hiking. I would sure like to get our there too, but a bit too cold up here. Way too much cozy fire sitting. Lol

I have no place to put things anymore either, but that doesn't stop me. It has just slowed me down and made me think about what I buy. I like that tee shirt!

What a fun gift! And I've been sorting out and giving away or throwing out the extra "Stuff" this year and it feels good.

I do enjoy stopping in at thrift stores and it doesn't matter whether or not I find any treasures, it's always fun looking. You got some great bargains! Belated birthday wishes from a fellow birthday celebrant as today, 2/3, is my special day.

Oh, you did some shopping! That's always fun. You found some great stuff. Love those colored pencils. And the cards are an extra surprise. That's a cute shirt to wear on your hikes too. I always love to see the goodies you bring home from the thrift store. : )
