Pickerelweed at Pruitt

Say that 10 times real fast! heeheehee!

The last hike we took on the Florida Trails beginning at the Pruitt Trailhead had amazing views out over the marsh of Pickerelweed in full bloom. That was in May. No hikes this month so far! I'm in serious withdrawals! I'm considering a road trip to find some cooler weather! lol We are 10 degrees above normal....in the mid 90s most days with not much of a cool down at night. Oh, I've already mentioned this in previous posts? I thought so!!! lol

Pickerelweed doesn't sound like a pretty enough name for this beautiful flower that blossoms in the wetlands. And it attracts all kinds of birds and bugs!

We saw several Red-winged Blackbirds that day.

They have the prettiest song to sing!

And some Grackles among the blooms too.

Even a dove on the wire looking out over the marsh.

Of course there are always Egrets and Ibis flying overhead.

I think this is a Tufted Titmouse in the trees. His 'tuft' was kind of swooped back so it was hard to tell.

And speaking of hair....here's the update on my 'new hairdo'! I went back and asked her if she could put more layers in my hair. She left the length but cut quite a bit off. Should I quote her? Do you dare me? She said...I quote...."I left the length but layered the c*ap out of it!" Not my favorite choice of words, but it gave me a laugh when I retold it to hubby and my girlfriend! I'll show you what it looks like in say....2 or 3 weeks when it grows back! hahahaha!

There was only one other vehicle at the trailhead and this was on the back glass.

 I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

I agree with you...those pretty purple flowers do not look like weeds at all. Oh our hair....the stories we ladies have to tell.

Hello, I love the pretty flowers. The Redwing blackbird is a great capture, love the look on the Ground Dove. The Egrets in flight is my favorite photo.
The bokeh on the Titmouse shot is lovely. Great series and post. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Enjoy your day, have a happy weekend. PS, thanks for leaving me a comment.

You always see such beautiful sights! The dove on a wire is such a lovely image... the feathers look fluffy and full!

Sorry to hear you are still having hair trouble. On the bright side... Your shorter layers will, hopefully, keep you cooler in that hot weather. I'm always picky about how mine is styled, cut, etc...

Blessings on your day and next adventure! Net

What? You’re not showing us for three weeks? 🙃 Maybe it’s time to head for the mountains. Is it cooler at the beach?

Diane, I think your hair is very pretty. LOL I had to go to the previous post to see it. I love the red winged black bird too. My daughter says when she hears it's song it is truly springtime to her. The pickerelweed is a very pretty flower. I do know it I could say it right one time. LOL. I bet you and your husband are longing for a hike. Hoping you get a cool down. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie

Your pickerel weed looked familiar but I couldn't name it. I see it's native to America but grown here too. "This plant is cultivated as an ornamental garden plant, and has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit."

That is a pretty plant and reminds me of another one..not sure which...lavender maybe or something. Sorry it is so hot there-while we have been complaining of our cold, wet spring here. It was hot yesterday but overcast and cool this morning and looks like rain. Sigh....wish we could all dictate the 'perfect weather'. Have a great (hot) FL day, Diane. xo Diana

Howdy there Diane and goodness I can't even say "pickerell weed" ONCE, MUCH LESS ten times fast....ha ha LOL!!! Those are such pretty purple flowers!! Wow, love that red wind blackbird picture and the one on the fence....these photos are so great, I love seeing them. Mercy it's hot and humid here too, and we had rain all weekend, just making everything so much more sultry. Not good walking weather, we only had a short one today. Guess that's better than nothing, we had our church clothes on so we definetly weren't going very fast, ha ha LOL Hope your weekend was great, I got alot of books to read and I will try to post them, what are you reading???

Oh, that's a good picture of the red winged blackbird. Every time I see one of these birds, its red is always hiding, and I don't get to see all the beauty this bird brings us. aaahhh, my beloved mourning dove. Such a special and peaceful bird. And he always comes at just the right time with his cooooo when I need peace the most. Your Header with the purple flowers is so pretty.

Hi,
Great photos!
Do you go to this stylist usually?
I would not be too excited about her vocabulary as well.
