We might need a little orange!

When you're hiking in the woods, the color orange sure stands out!

I'd really like to make an effort to learn some of the names of the mushrooms and fungi that I see.

But I'm having trouble with the ID of them all.

I need to see if I can buy a special mushroom ID book. I've tried to buy identification books for all kinds of things here in Florida and that helps so much.

So I'll share the beauty of them all and fill in the blanks when I figure out the proper ID!

These were all taken on last week when we had a little rain every day. The mushrooms just sprouted up everywhere.

This black mushroom was on the golf course behind our house.

A white mushroom is in the same area!

The rest of these were on the Florida Trails. You know where that is! We hike there A LOT! lol

Do you have mushrooms popping up around you after a rain?

How about a Black Swallowtail with orange dots!

I’m joining Thankful Thursdays .

I find fungi one of the most difficult groups to identify and if there are walks with a local mycologist available I would recommend taking them. Once you get started with a few pointers from a proficient guide it becomes a whole lot easier. The Peterson Guide to Mushrooms is pretty comprehensive, but if you can find a local guide it would be even better since you then only have to focus on the species known to be in your area.

These are really cool mushroom pictures. We had quite a few spring up the other day, after all the afternoon thunderstorms. I kept putting it off and putting it off....getting out there to take pictures, and when I finally DID, they were gone. I'll try to catch some next time. I always tell granddaughter mushrooms are from where fairies danced the night before. LOL She loves fairies like I do. I've never seen a black mushroom like that one though!!--did you find out what kind it was? And by the way......I LOVE TO EAT mushrooms, I always have loved them on pizza and in spaghetti sauce and so many other ways. Do you?

Oh my goodness, do we have those mushrooms/toadstools. I pulled up about a dozen of those orange things from our front flower bed. Let me know what they are when you find out! They popped up over-night. Amazing.

Yes, we definitely need a little orange. I heard one time it's the happiest color. The orange mushrooms are so unusual, and the black one is also. The butterfly with the orange spots is beautiful. It's so strange how the white mushroom is standing tall, and the black mushroom is fading. It reminds me that light always overcomes darkness. I see many signs and messages in nature. And your post makes me want to visit very soon. Thank you, Diane.

Dearest Diane; How interesting to see these varieties of mushrooms; especially the orange and black one♬ I frequently cook them with other vegetables ;-) I wonder you cook them and have them in America as well. Oh the swallowtail is lovely, I don'T think I 'd ever seen that color.
Have a wonderful weekend and coming new week.
Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

Amazing shots of the mushrooms. And that black one is really interesting. We saw a butterfly just like that one yesterday - it flitted away before I could get a photo - I've never seen one before - what a treat. Thanks for the great photos.
