What have I been doing lately? NOT hiking! I sure miss my hikes in the woods and along the Rainbow River but it's just been too hot to hike! High 90s during the day and it doesn't cool off a whole lot at night....mid to high 70s! I'm sure I'll find a cool morning soon and hit the trails but in the meantime...there's lots to do inside!
Reading....
Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger
If you only have time to read ONE book this summer! Read this one! It is amazing! You'll never forget it!
And I saw Eileen's review on Fool Me Once by Harlan Coben on Goodreads and just had to read it.
And it was GOOD! Can't put it down, want to stay up late at night reading....GOOD!!!
Card making...
I made several quick and easy cards to give to the Hospice patients at the Legacy House. Always feels good to have something to give and put on their bulletin boards. Cheers the room up!
Watercolors and sketching...
Not sure I'm getting any better but I'm still loving it.
And Cleaning... Time to clean out the big walk-in closet.
Wait!!! no photo? I forgot to take a pic? Or did I forget to clean! hahahaha! Like to venture a guess?!!!
Have a wonderful week! If it ever cools down or rains, I'll HIKE but for now, I'll enjoy being at home!
What have you been up to this week?
I’m joining Angie for Mosaic Monday HERE .

...what ever, just do it.
your cards are so beautiful. the horse looks perfect to me. did you teach yourself to sketch and paint? I have always wanted to.. this is the time of year to do it. we had to move our dog walking time to 6:30 am, can't stand the heat after the sun tops the trees... I love Harlan Coben, will check to see if I have read this one. I read so much I have to read the story line to remember. I love a book I can't put down.
I have not read Fool me once, I now have it in my kindle, the library had it available. the problem is I now have 4 library books to read in 14 days.
Nothing better than a good book! Hope you get a cooler morning so you can hike.
Hello,
I do not blame you for not wanting to walk in the hot weather. I hope it cools off soon. Harlan Coben is now one of my favorite authors, he is great with the suspense and thrillers. I will see if my library has Ordinary Grace. Your cards are pretty, the Hospice patients will love them. Your sketches are great, I love the horse and the crane. Enjoy your day, have a happy new week!
90* is too hot to hike! At least you aren't bored. Those books sound good and I will have to check them out. I haven't had time to read much lately. There's always something to do.
Diane, I love the paintings and cards you are making. What fun. I miss those days. Yikes, the heat. I really am not a fan of snow and yet I just hate the high heat too. LOL. Love the header photo. Beautiful. Blessings to you, love xoxo, Susie
What! Why can't I get you to read-review one of my books? So sad :(
(wink)
I think you are doing wonderful on your painting and one should enjoy a hobby. Thanks for the book recommendations.
I really like your horse!
We've been cold up here. I'm still walking in our wetland, however!
With the humidity that you have in Florida it is easy to see how 90 degrees would feel unbearable. That's the nice thing about our desert heat, even when the temperatures soar it's easier to take. Although; I still would not want to hike when it's 90, LOL. Take care sweet friend and enjoy your A/C in your lovely home:)
You have used your time beautifully ! Your painting is wonderful, great book suggestions as well !
Ninety degrees would sure keep me inside. Cold I can handle, that kind of heat is debilitating,
That is definitely too hot to hike! It is forecasted thet we get _almost_ similar temperatures - in Finland! Let's see... I 'm always searching for good books to read. So I'll check if Krueger & Coben are available in my library. It is a horse and a good one - be proud! Wishing a bit cooler there, have a nice week.
Hi again,
no Krueger, but many Coben’s thrillers have been translated in Finnish. I reserved one of the latest and also this that you recommended, in English! Thank you <3
Happy Monday, its cooling down (a little) we had some rain over the week end. I finished last week The Lost Apostle by Rena Pederson and started reading The Sweetest Thing by Emma Blair.
Have a good week

I am so glad That i can. comment by you...so strange Some blogs not anymore have Nice week love Ria 🌸🌺💕
Looks like you have plenty to keep you busy Diane. I am hoping to get in a walk around the neighborhood after dinner each evening. It is pretty hot here as well.
Too hot to do much outside for me also. Just reading and resting. Some time with the Grands. Hugs!
I always enjoy seeing your creative artwork and I know the patients love getting your cards. Yes, indeed, it is too hot to hike. Thanks for the book reviews!
It's always fun to stay indoors creating when it's just too hot outside.
Your cards are beautiful and your hospice ministry is wonderful, my daughter is director of nursing at a three step nursing facility, she says ministries like this are so much needed, may the Lord continue to bless you and this special ministry.
Your horse painting is lovely too!
have a blessed week, I am busy working in my garden when weather permits, it is hot here too!
Blessings,
Sue
Your watercolors are very pretty. Wish I could paint like that.
I always love good book recommendations. Thanks. And kudos to you for all you do for Hospice.
Have to say that a temperature of ninety degrees would keep me inside too!
I do like the cards you've made and I like your painting too.
Stay as chilled and cool as you can.
All the best Jan
You have been busy on your non walking days. :)
The cards you've made are very pretty and creative.
Your cards look great and so do your watercolors. At least you are finding things to do while it's scorching outside.
Such pretty cards, and your paintings are lovely. Yes, those are good pastimes for our current hot weather. Reading is one of my favorite things to do in any weather. It has been too hot to do anything outside. We don't take long hikes, but we do take early morning walks and evening walks. The bugs (deer flies and horseflies) are starting to come out, which creates some fast moves on our part. Thankfully, we are starting to get a little bit of rain, so I hope that will help matters here. Enjoy your summer days, whatever you do!!
You are so right about the heat making it hard to walk. We've gone out some evenings around 7:30 and if there is a breeze, which there often is, that's at least a help. But the humidity.....
We have started exercising in our community indoor pool for 45 minutes 3x weekly. Feeling better in my joints already!!
I like what you've made for the patients. They appreciate small gifts so much. Our Glee Club sang our patriotic program this morning at a local rehab/nursing facility (won't mention the name, but it's big, beautiful and not far from OTOW). I love to sing at nursing homes. They appreciate it so much.
Your sketching is great! Keep it up!
Diane - I know how much you love your hikes, so it must be quite the sacrifice to sit inside … but look what you have created! Fabulous. I especially like the sandhill crane. Thanks for the book recommendations - I have not been satisfied with the ones I have checked out lately. You can see in my post that we have been pretty active around here! Tomorrow we go hiking in Glacier National Park. Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday, my friend!
To everything there is a season so I like the times indoors and the times outdoors. It gives time to catch up to everything. It looks like you have been using your indoor time very fruitfully :-) Enjoy and hopefully you will also get good hiking weather soon. Thanks too for the book recommendations. I'm always looking for a good book.
Wow! So much creativity in one post ~ beautiful artworks ~ stay cool ~
Happy Day to you,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
Love the horse and your cards are very good!
You are keeping quite busy. Your art work is pretty cool. I like the crane. We saw them on our way home from our long road trip in Nebraska where the stay for bit as they migrate north. Some good reads, too. Not hot here yet. Just wet. We will take wet. because heat will come then there won't be any rain. Have a great week.PS I accidentally deleted my Mosaic Monday post. I reposted my mosaic, though.
I can't tolerate extreme heat or humidity any longer, either, Diane. I do better in cool dry weather, Unfortunately, our spring has been very wet and stormy this year, which also cuts back on hiking.
Like you, I love to read and will keep these two books in mind-they sound good! Are we friends on Goodreads? I rate books I've read but don't write many reviews there.
Fun, fun. I like all that you are up to. ;-)
I have been in the garden. I am heading back out in the garden. I hope to get some photos to share with you all on the blog. Things are looking good.
Love, Carla
Your sketches are beautiful, thanks.
Your cards and artwork are so wonderful! It is starting to heat up here as well......although we have had a season of good rain. I work when I can in the mornings and late afternoons outside.......when it is too hot......I hide in the house! Have a great week ahead!
90s already, wowza! Thank goodness for indoor fun. Your horse has a sweet attitude. I wonder what has him smiling.
Girlfriend I love your pretty cards and I KNOW YOU ARE A BLESSING to those in hospice! I wish I could sketch as good as you...I could never ever ever DRAW ANYTHING, ha ha LOL We were able to go for a SHORT walk last night, it's been pretty darn hot here. Last night it felt somewhat cooler and today we have lots of rain coming down, our flowers are loving it!
Hot weather does sap the energy. And I'm sure it's much too hot, even indoors, to do much cleaning. Painting and reading and drawing sound much better. Your horse is a sweetie. Have a good week, Diane.
I hope your weather improves. The cards look great!
Thanks, Diane, for the weather update which wasn’t a surprise to us as we’re currently in Dothan, AL where the temp was 100 yesterday but the humidity was only 20% which is way lower than our VA temps used to be. We are going to FL as our next road trip stop and looking forward to forecasted rain. Thanks for the book recommendations too.
You have been busy and your sketches and cards are lovely! In fact your whole post has been an enjoyable read. Thanks Diane :)
It's been hot here too, Diane, in the 90's. It's nice staying inside when it's this hot out. And you certainly are getting better with your sketching. Love that horse. And the cards you make are so special for the Hospice patients. I'm sure they brighten up their lives. 'Ordinary Grace' sounds wonderful.
Happy June days, and stay cool from the heat.
~Sheri
I think your sketches are fabulous, you are way too hard on yourself! When it is too hot here to be outdoors, I am not a reader but I enjoy knitting and cleaning the house. Doesn’t sound like much fun, but I don’t mind cleaning and organizing the house. I always feel so accomplished when I’m finished. Needing is a lot more fun!
that was suppose to say *knitting is a lot more fun*...i was using the voice feature!!!
So beautiful! I love the cardinal in the previous post, too!
