Cookies and Collections!

I love to 'collect'! I don't know why but I do! I remember my Grandmother loved to collect so maybe I can blame it on her. lol I like to keep things neat and tidy but I like LOTS of stuff too! So it's a constant battle to keep everything under control.

(a gift from my sweet cousin, Cindy)

I don't buy dolls now. I have a nice collection of dolls that I bought back when I was working and earning! And a lot of the Golden books I have were bought a long time ago too. But now that I visit the library (books sold in lobby) and thrift stores, I find old Golden books from time to time.

I would rather keep the old vintage copies so I donate the newer Golden books to children when I end up with duplicates...which I always do!

So now I'm getting ready to move some bookshelves around to make it easier to access my Golden books and play with them! For some reason, it's not as easy to sit on the floor now. Why is that? Don't you DARE answer that question if you know what's good for you! hahahaha!

And for all this work play, we deserve a cookie!

I've been able to eat a chocolate chip cookie for the first time in over 20 years! I'm trying not to over do it and eat too many. They are sugar free but of course NOT calorie free. And they are SO SO SO GOOD! I can't eat sugar at all....I'm allergic and have a terrible reaction to it. And because I want to be healthy I avoid sugar substitutes. But I finally found some ingredients that 'agree' with my healthy lifestyle and I was able to buy everything in the local grocery store. The recipe is HERE. I used the Bake Believe chocolate chips, almond flour and erythritol (in place of sugar).

I haven't had any bad reactions to these so it has been quite a treat....to say the least! And for those of you that wonder, I can't eat processed sugar or even natural sugars like honey, maple syrup or fruit sugars.

Golden books and cookies....ahhhh....life is good and I am very thankful! What are you thankful for today?

I’m joining Thankful Thursdays .

I am quite sure that there is some inner compulsion in humans to collect. It seems that everyone collects something.

You and my sister, Kristi, would have a ball looking at each other's little golden books. She collects them as well. I hope a few of your dolls will be dressed for Valentines. I love seeing your vignettes with those sweet things.

I am sorry to read about your sugar allergy. It must be difficult to find things that you can eat because sugar is in so many things. My daughter has reactions to gluten and dairy but has worked hard to find alternatives so she can still eat healthy and enjoy food. I imagine that is what you have had to do. I love your positive attitude in your blog. Whether you are hiking, or collecting, or sharing your life, you always have a "can do" spirit! Thanks so much!

Congratulations on the cookies! And you DO have quite the collection of Goldens. We have a few for the boys -- oldies from Rick's family; they live at Rick's house for visits. They were wonderful little books!

You have such a nice collection of children books and dolls. It's too bad about the sugar but maybe a good thing in a way. I try not to eat sugary things but last night my husband and I split a chocolate bar left over from Christmas. We try to eat bananas and strawberries. We make a protein shake for breakfast almost every day. Can you eat fruit with no problems? Have a great day and weekend.

Diane, I never knew of sugar allergies. Bless your heart. Glad you found a good recipe that works for you. I love the golden books. I would have loved to have read all those when I was a kid. LOL. Of course I read the books the kids have now. :) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

I love your collections! And your cookies look good! How difficult it must be to be allergic to sugar! And you have such a good attitude about it, too!

I can't imagine how difficult it must be trying to overcome your sugar allergy. I love your dollies and your book collection. I love to collect too. I think most of us do. You have a super day, hugs, Edna B.

I am a collector of Stuff too.
Love your Golden Books and the illustrators on the vintage ones.
Your dolls are precious. I used to collect a few but had no place to really keep them.
Happy you found a alternative so you can have a cookie or two now and then.
I'm new to your blog and will be returning.

Your Little Golden Book collection is marvelous and brings back so many memories. These books were inexpensive and easy to pick up at the "Dime Store" ,remember those, LOL. It made reading to your children so nice and it made having a small library for them, affordable.
Your cookies make my mouth water, if I lived closer I just might be knocking on your door with a half gallon of milk in my hand :)
Have a sweet day my friend.
Connie :)

Those Golden Books make me want to sit down on the floor for an hour or two. Do you have a top ten list? 🍪 How fun to be able to have a treat! If I nabbed one of your cookies, the erythritol would make me miserable. I almost baked cookies last night, but thought better of it immediately. I should not eat an entire batch of cookies. 😏

Well I know one thing for sure......I AM SO EXCITED you've found a way to enjoy a sweet treat w/out it hurting you!! YAY!!--we all need treats from time to time. Don't know what I'd do w/out my sweet tea and my "junk food". ha ha LOL I'm sure I eat too much of it....love chips and crunchy things like pretzels and oh I adore chip dip too. LOL. Love this post...wow, I had no idea you had THIS MANY Golden books, wow!! You have an amazing collection there. Like you, I collect so many things......and also alot of JUNK. ha ha Altho I've run out of ways to store it or display it all....I keep slipping in new things, I just cant resist, ha ha. I have moved all my dolls into my dressing room and I'm on the look-out for a bookcase to put them in. No room in the living room anymore, LOL. I have a trillion books but at least they all are in bookcases.

Wow, that is one fantastic collection of Golden Books. I loved those when I was growing up and when my kids were little. I can't believe how much they are selling for in the stores these days though.
Those cookies sure look good. I'll have to check out the recipe.

I am sorry to hear of your sugar allergy. That must make it difficult to eat many things. But I am happy you have figured it out and know now what you can and can't eat. I love your Golden Book collection. I loved those books when I was little, and I loved them for my children too. I still have a few, but not what I'd call a collection. I love your dolls...you have the ones that really look real! Beautiful. I have one special doll like that that a dear friend made for me. It's a very wonderful little story. I still have other dolls too, but some I haven't quite figured out where to put since we moved, so they are still in their boxes waiting on me to figure it out. I keep trying to "let go", but haven't been able to do so yet on many of these special things. I am glad that you understand this!!! We have a lot in common! Enjoy your cookies. So glad you found that recipe!

I had no idea you were allergic to sugar. No wonder you are in such good shape along with your hiking! But I am also glad you found ingredients that allow you to indulge a bit! Yum! I love your Golden Books and you do have quite a collection! I love to collect too but I need to organize mine and be neater like you are otherwise I need to get rid of some things! Have a great day!

What a fun post! It has me thinking about all the books I had purchased for my kids and their library! So may books...we donated to the preschool when we moved the last time! Have a wonderful weekend!

Golden Books and cookies.....those are surely two things to be thankful for. Your cookies look so good, Diane. And as you know, I love children's books. You have quite a collection here. That's nice that you donate some of your newer Golden Books. Thanks for sharing the story about your Grandmother collecting things as well. I used to have a collection of a few things, but since downsizing, the only thing I really collect is rocks with words - I love them!

Have a pleasant weekend, and enjoy those cookies!

ps.....I forgot to mention your Header with the trees is so pretty. : )

Wow, what a collection! I wonder if your library would let you be The Golden Book Lady and read them to the children every week? I could see you doing that. 😁

I've never heard of a sugar allergy before. Bummer! Glad these cookies are not bothering you! Take care, Diane!

I think it is part of our nature to collect things.. There always is one thing that draws our intention.. I had forgotten that I collected miniature chairs since childhood until my mother gave me my collection.. I now have been continuing collecting where ever I go. I love getting new recipes and chocolate chip cookies are one of my favorites.. Will try your recipe.. Yes, Life is Good!
