Learning to make Mosaics

I hope no one hurries over here to learn how to make mosaics from ME! I've been forced to learn a new way of doing something that I've done for years! I always made mosaics using Picasa.

But now I'm on a new MacBook Air AND I'm learning a new version of PhotoScape.

So far I'm having fun getting a little more 'artsy'!

And even those photos I take of dried grasses or colorful leaves look neat in a collage.

As hard as this is to believe....even for those of us that have lived in Florida for a long time....it was 86 degrees when we hiked last Friday. That's WARM, even for us!

Lots of oranges on the trees now too. The tree (above) is in our neighborhood.

What program do you use to make mosaics? Is it easy to learn?

I'm joining Angie for Mosaic Monday HERE .

Diane, I like the pretty mosaics you made. Talk about warm, the forecaster this morning said we could be 60 degrees here in central Indiana on Jan. the 10...crazy. You know not long ago, like in Dec. ,the temps were single digit. Everything is nuts. But I am loving our sunny days and praying the gray one are not too many in a row. LOL. Blessings to you , xoxo, Susie
p.s. I do not even know how to begin making mosaics. LOL

Hello,

Your mosaics and images are pretty. Love the views of the colorful berries and leaves. We were in Florida in December for a little bit, but it was cold, windy and a little rainy. We missed the Florida sunshine. Happy Monday, wishing you a great day and a happy new week!

Very pretty Diane. Is Photo Scape an add on for Mac Book? My old Mac Air just has photos and I have never added on any more programs for photographs. I love playing with my photographs so a good photo app would be fun.

Is that an additional photo program Diane? I have an old Mac Air and I just use photos but would love to jazz up my pictures a bit.Yours look great.

Nicely done! I have a Mac and always used picasa, too. I might try photoscape!

Thanks for your New Years wish. I am impressed that you are keeping up with technology. I still use Picasso for things....Janey

Very nice mosaics! I'm with you...I've used Picasa for so many years for all my photo editing that I wouldn't know where to begin if I didn't have it! Have a great week.

I use photoshop sometimes and PicMonkey most of the time. the old PicMonkey was easy peasy, the new is not. I like the look of the triangles. have not seen those before. I say go with this and practice on it. will grow new brain cells. i am betting you are not 86 today. we woke to 43 so you were probably in the 30's. but we will be back to high 70's in 2 days. its beautiful today, hope you are headed for a park right now

...I like the designs that you use, I use Foto Jet, what do you use? The temps this winter are crazy, in a day or two we are forecasted to reach into the low 50s.

I use Photoscape, though it does not have as many options as your program has. I like your mosaic and your collages.

I love your mosaics. Is your program only for Mac or does it work with Microsoft? I'll have to look it up. You have a wonderful day, hugs, Edna B.

That kind of temperature is too warm at any time of the year!

I'd say you're a quick learner - I like your mosaics.

Oh my I'm jealous! I love the collages you did here with your new toy. Very cool.
I'm not in Florida but South Georgia and it is very warm today, 63 for Jan 6th. How crazy but I know Feb. will be a cold bugger.
And we are kindred spirits, I take pictures of EVERYthing when I'm outside. LOL

Happy New Year, Diane!

I loved Picasa and miss it. Now I use Google Photos and don't care for the way it makes mosaics at all. Your new program mosaics look beautiful!

We had a warmish Christmas in the 60s but hopefully will get back to winter weather soon.

I like these a lot, Diane! Of course, having such nice photos helps!

I loved Picasa and sure do miss it. Google or chrome retired it and I cannot open their new site. I use pizap for collages now but Picasa did so much more. Looks like you have learned plenty with the new program

I have never tried to make a mosaic, but I did use Picassa before. I haven't thought of it for a long time. Yours are always lovely and I like the triangles you have incorporated! Have fun and show us more!

I love seeing your mosaics and you make them so unique and you're just so creative! I enjoyed the previous post with the bird too....I'm sure looking to all your hikes this new year, you take us to so many interesting trails and show us animals I've never seen before....like that fox squirrel!! LOL wow---y'all sure did ALOT OF HIKES this past year. I'm glad you keep track of them. I don't keep track of any of ours except with the photos and much of ours is just city walking but if we walk over an hour----then it's a HIKE FOR SURE! ha ha We do go for long hikes out on the old plantations and some of the parks with trails and we sure enjoy those as well.

I like your mosaics. I haven't figured out how to make them yet. And 86 F is, indeed, very warm for FL at this time of year. This coming Saturday it's supposed to get up to 56 F here in Connecticut, which is above normal for us for this time of year (but I'll take it!).

I think your mosaics are beautiful!!

I love those Mosaics with the triangles. I have been using Be Funky for the last year or so since Picmonkey started charging for the privilege. It's easy. I know Canva is supposed to be a great program with lots of designs etc but I want something quick. It seems to be warmer than usual everywhere. I know it is in Australia. I lost most of my baby oranges off our tree in a heatwave (over 100C) in the couple of weeks before Christmas. Stay cool and have a great week, and thank you for visiting my blog this week. And for your thoughts for those in Australia suffering from the bushfires.

I so sad! I can't use Photoscape. My OS isn't high enough.

Neat mosaics! I used to make them in Pic Monkey until they stopped being free. I like the program you are using. It makes the pictures so interesting.

I miss the old Picasa. I haven't made any in a long time. I will have to check out Photoscape.

I really want to taste a tree ripened orange! Love your mosaics. I think I need to look up photos cape. I use Collegit, which is okay. Unimaginatiave, but okay. Happy New Year, Diane.

Diane - it might be painful, but we are never to old to learn new things! I like the collages in this post, especially the ones with the triangles. I use PicMonkey for my mosaics. Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday, my Florida buddy!

Oooooo, so pretty. You are getting creative with your mosaics, Diane. Nature is beautiful, isn't it? Oh, and the orange tree made me smile. : ) Wow, I can't believe it's 86 degrees! This is our coldest month here in northern California. The leaves sure are pretty in your mosaics. Have a wonderful week, dear friend.

Hi ~LAVENDER DREAMER~ Your mosaics are really cool! It is so interesting the kinds of things you can put together. I especially like the one in the forest with the closeups of the mushrooms. I did a quick check on Google to see if I could use Photoscape on my iPad. It looks like I need a MacBook. :-) I do have some photo software, of course, but have not tried to make mosaics. It looks like you have given me a new goal! Thank you! And thank you for keeping an eye on John's Island and your kind comments there. Best regards to you and yours and Happy New Year! John

Diane, your mosaics are, well, a work of art! So lovely to look at. My, your weather is warm! The forecast here is wintry mix and temps in the 20's - 30's.

Sallie (FullTime-Life) said...

Oh my gosh Diane those mosaics are beautiful. I still use plain old Picasa , so I definitely *could* learn a lot from you. And should. But probably won’t until I have to (I keep thinking Picasa will go away...I know Google bought it and doesn’t really support it any longer). ....anyhow...cross that bridge when It happens......the Weather is a little odd over here as well. Yesterday, we had heat on in the morning, air on in the afternoon, and the doors open to the screen porch in the evening (with the a/c off of course ... that last is my idea of perfection.)

Hi,
Do you ever pick oranges off the tree? In Wisconsin some of the apple orchards have U Pick .. we can pick apples. I have never seen an orange tree in person. I enjoyed your photos.
Love, Carla

Very pretty! I have not tried to make mosaics yet. I also used Picasa for many years, and do miss it a lot. Pixlr is another good editing tool that is free.
