Out with the old...

...well, I hang on to LOTS of old things as you all know!

But I did get an early birthday present that I'm having a lot of fun with. Something really NEW!!!

I got an Apple Watch! I'm still learning a lot as I wear it but I'm enjoying tracking my hikes and keeping up with my activity.

My hubby put an app on it with the Minnie Mouse face and I went to my jewelry box and found my 2 Mickey watches. The smaller one I've had over 25 years and was wearing when I met my hubby.

How time flies!

Here are some of the massive live Oak trees that we see on some of our hikes. I thought you would like to see how tiny I really am! hahaha!

Do you have an Apple watch or know someone who does? I would love to hear about apps you like or features you are using on your watch. My hubby has had one for awhile so we are not exactly new at this but I'm determined to learn more about it and use more of the features.

Always learning....that's part of the adventure, isn't it?

I'm joining Angie for Mosaic Monday HERE .

I don't have one, but I am awfully curious. Please let us know what you think after you have worn it awhile. I would use it mostly for tracking steps and sleep.

Couldn't help but smile at you Minnie Mouse watches. I always wanted one and my "sensible" mother always said I needed to get a watch that would stand the test of time, not the test fad. I've always regretted it but you are the lucky one! Have a grand week!

I don't have any Apple products but hubby has an Apple smartphone. I like your watches with Mickey Mouse face. These days, I find it difficult to catch up with so many new apps.

Those oaks are beautiful. As for Apple, I don't buy apple products. As for the high tech watch, I would be lost. I bought me one of those fitness things, got frustrated just looking at the instructions, and gave it away. I'm not as brave as I used to be. hahaha. Enjoy your new watch. I do love the Minnie on the face. You have a wonderful day. Hugs, Edna B.

Hello,

Congrats on your new Apple Watch. My iphone keeps track of my activity, steps and miles. I just have to make sure I am carrying my phone with me. I love the big oak trees, you do look tiny standing next to that big tree. Wishing you a great day and new week!

Hi Diane, happy new year! My son gave me an apple watch when he got it with a change of insurance. I do wear it every day and here are the things I like and use the most: seeing texts as they come in and can tell if I need to respond right away or not, the timer for the dryer and cooking and to remind me of something, fthe ringer for finding my phone is huge! I use that one all the time, and I use the watch to measure how long my walks are. It's even nice when it reminds me to get up and move, except that may be a little too much Big Brother for my liking, so I usually ignore it. Hope you enjoy it.

We don't have anything 'apple' at our house. I did have a fitbit a few years ago. When the battery died, I quit wearing it rather than buy a battery. It did last about three years though. Even I look tiny standing under some of those huge live oak trees and I am a big girl! LOL Have a good week!

I am low tech (lol) just using my iPhone to track my steps. And then whenever it tells me I haven’t worked hard enough, I just say to myself, ‘oh I should have put my phone in my pocket when I cleaned house, then I’m sure I would have made 10000!’ Lol ...my house is so small, even if I actually cleaned it top to toe I wouldn’t come anywhere close! (And I almost never clean that much, if I did, when would I go outside and play!). I’m really interested about what you learn from your new “toy” so do let us know!

I don't have anything apple (except a Honey Crisp in the fridge) but it looks like a fabulous watch!

Hi Diane!

My husband has a Samsung watch as we use android phones. He is also learning how to use it but likes it a lot. Since we are usually together it counts the steps for both of us...lol. He wanted to buy one for me, too, but I didn't see the need for it right now...maybe that will change in the future.

I would love an Apple watch, I am Apple through and through, but have to make do with my phone as I found years ago that watch straps gave me a rash in the heat (I'm a sensitive bird lol) What a fabulous gift. I agree life is for learning and we should should never stop. I have just given my Dad in his 80's my old Apple phone!
Happy New Year, new you!

I didn't even know there was such a thing. I may have to go check them out. How cool that you can make it look like a Minnie Mouse watch. Watches sure have come a long way since back in the day.

No Apple Watch here. I don’t even wear a watch anymore! But I know you are going to love yours!

Congrats on your new watch! Very cute! Those oaks look like many I've seen in Louisiana and Alabama. Lovely old things!

What a lovely birthday present. The Minnie face on the watch gives a charming warmth to the mechanical feel of the gadget. The old Mickey watches are also lovely, never lose their shine and I love your attachment for the old items which you must have cherished for long. Enjoy each step to get control of the new watch.

I don't have an Apple watch and am not especially eager to embrace yet another technological challenge. But with that said, YOU are an excellent person to have one because of all your hiking walks. Have fun with the new toy!

What a great gift. Two of my friends have Apple watches and they have the Minnie faces. I got a Fitbit in the fall and I'm really enjoying it. I was shocked at how poorly I slept though. It's inspired me to to try and get more sleep. Wear it in good health!

Diane - we don't have any Apple products other than iPods, and they are so old we expect them to stop working any time. Good for you to want to make the most of your new watch - I think most of us are carrying around way more technology than we will ever use. Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!

I have an apple watch. I haven't used it lately because we've had so much rain! It makes me frustrated when I can't walk. You will enjoy it! Keeping up with steps is healthy!

Oh Diane I just love the pictures in your collage, with the big big trees. I posted some big trees as well, yesterday. Oh my!--you got one of them "newfangled watches"!! ha ha LOL I would not even know what to do with something like that, ha ha. I do good to keep batteries in my plain old fashioned watch, ha ha. Yes, I still wear old fashioned watches....I guess alot of folks don't now because they just look at their cell phones? LOL Is it hot there, mercy it's been HOT HERE.

I don't have an apple watch, but I do have an LL Bean field watch that I dearly love! Does that count? Yes, it does count time quite well, and is analog, not digital. I feel pretty smart just having a smart phone finally after holding out for many years, and I was probably the last person on earth to get a digital camera! (And I LOVE it!) I'm just an old fashioned girl I guess. But I am happy that you enjoy your new watch and hope that it is helpful on your hikes...keeping track of steps, etc. Have fun, whatever you do and wherever you go!

Oh, a Minnie watch, how cute! The live oak trees are beautiful. There's something so special about a tree that has withstood the harshest weather. Can you imagine the things that old tree has heard while people were standing under its shade? I sure like your mint green hiking shirt. : )
