We enjoy seeing the beautiful horses here in Florida and I thought they would make nice note cards.
“Ocala, Florida is considered the Horse Capital of the World. Learn more HERE. We are one of only four major Thoroughbred breeding and training centers in the world. They are Newmarket (England), Chantilly (France), Lexington (Kentucky), and Ocala. Also, Florida follows only Texas and California when it comes to the total number of horses (all breeds).”
These were taken through the windshield of my car on the way back from the mall.
And these are the wild horses in Payne’s Prairie.
Read more about them HERE
and see more photos online, HERE !
I’m joining Vee at a Haven for Vee

What I've learned! We drive through Ocala at least twice and year and I knew there were lots of horse farms but not this fact! Your photos are great, even through the window and made a nice set of cards.
Sweet horses..I love them so much..
Sending you lots of love and prayers x
I had no idea that Florida is known for horse breeding! These photos are beautiful especially the last one. Have a good day! Hugs, Pam
What beautiful photos Dianne!
Beautiful photos and they would make wonderful note cards.
Right. I learned some things here. I also had no idea that Florida is third in horse population and that Florida is such a center for horse breeding. Very interesting indeed. I'm always searching for note cards to send to a man and these would perfectly fit that need. They're wonderful!
Wonderful! You know I love horses! And Yes, I knew that Ocala is considered a horse capital. A blogging friend of mine used to work at one of the posh stables there!
such pretty horses. nice shots. ( :
I do not know that about Florida and horses. There quite a bit of horse training done in Aiken, South Carolina where I am from too.

I love driving through Ocala and seeing the horses!
We live in Central Florida too! :) Nice to "meet" a FL neighbor!
Wild ponies always intrigue me. Probably has something to do with reading Misty of Chincoteague as a young girl. Great notecards. :-)
Those would make beautiful note cards, Diane. I don't usually think of horses when I think of Florida, so I learned a lot from your pretty post. I've never seen wild horses in person. What a sight that must be. laurie
These are all beautiful, Diane. Of course, being a Lexingtonian, I would have to argue about the horse capital of the world :)
Hugs,
Laura

Your photos are lovely...beautiful animals, beautiful captures. What?! Through the windshield?! Amazing!

Wow Diane, how beautiful. Great photos, I'm ready to move, although I'm in big horse country, I'd rather be in Florida!! LOL. What great note cards these will make. Hugs

Hi, Diane: thanks for this interesting post. I haven't shared with you that my husband and I moved here to Alabama ten months ago after living 9 years in Lexington, KY. There is a huge mural on a water tank at the intersection of I75/I64, proclaiming 'Horse Capital of the World!' The Bluegrass horse farms are beautiful, but we noticed during our time there that more and more pasturelands were disappearing in favor of 'development.' Keeneland features Thoroughbred horse racing while The Red Mile features harness racing; and of course, just up the highway is Churchill Downs, where the Kentucky Derby is held. I surely miss seeing those magnificent creatures.
Hugs from Alabama,
Sharon
