Mountain Mermaids

What do you find when you thrift shop in the mountains?
A Mermaid of course!

Oh, and a boat! heehee!

I’m pleased to have a couple of ‘new’ things to take back to Florida when we go. I put them on top of a wooden bowl that I turned upside down just for the photos.

And I did my photo shoot in front of the shelves we have below the bar that separates the kitchen from the living room. It’s small….it’s a condo! And we LOVE it! (here’s a photo of the kitchen from my photo archives, a few more Fall things on the shelves)

I have so many of my favorite things on these shelves…thrift finds and gifts, books and bears. I can sit in my recliner in the living room and enjoy them all.

I bought my mermaid and boat at Lulu’s Consignment shop. It’s my favorite place to shop and it’s less than 2 miles from our condo! Almost TOO close…if you know what I mean! lol
I’m joining Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday, Brenda at the Cozy Little House for Tweak it Tuesday and Creative Cain Cabin.
Do you like to display some of your favorite things altogether to enjoy?

Did you see the "real" mermaid on CNN last week that someone in the British Navy filmed? (at least, I think that was who they said....I was in and out of the room while my hubby was watching the report for hours) It looked right into the camera...it was nighttime...then it dove into the water and the fin splashed up...they tried to explain it away as a seal....then they showed a picture of a mermaid that traveled with Barnum and Bailey back in the early days of the circus. Weird.

Love your kitchen at the condo! Too cute! And I love the sailboat, too. I should start shopping at consignment shops. You find the nicest things!

Hi, Diane: lucky you to find the mermaid! I'm on the lookout for a small, colorful vintage one (that doesn't cost an arm and a leg!), but no luck so far...and that CNN segment mentioned by another reader sounds interesting.

Thrift and consignment shops are so much more 'interesting' for shopping, in my opinion; you just never know what you'll come across.

Sharon

Been here a while catching up on all the goodies I've missed. Love it all. I agree those motels might be a bit scary. :) Love the pig in the room. Those hotel towels are works of art, aren't they.
Love your shelves under the counter, so many goodies. You find the best stuff, Diane. I spy a dolly in a high chair. :) So cute.
Your condo is perfect. So nice to be able to go back and forth.
Have a great week.

I was trying to read the titles of the books and then laughed at myself when the last picture was a close up!

Love the mermaid! We live near Weeki Wachee in Florida where Mermaids abound!

Good Afternoon Diane, Well of course you would buy a mermaid and a boat when you are in the mountains.... that made me smile as I imagined it would be by the coast that you would find these lovely items.
The mermaid is gorgeous and your kitchen is lovely. I like how you have filled the shelves with things that you love.
I spied a Buffalo Bill Book, Boy of the Plains..... It looks like an old book and I wondered if you knew if it was still in publication as my husband loves cowboy films and memorabilia. Although he grew up in the North of England, as a little boy he used to go to the Saturday Morning Matinee to watch cowboy films... his favourite cowboy is John Wayne.
Best wishes
Daphne

Just love your thrifty finds especially the mermaid. It looks like it is resting on a wooden base--if you hadn't told me it's a bowl, I'd never have known.

You condo is very cute! Have fun!

Good thing she's not too big -- are you going to have room for you and hubby on the way back? You better not thrift any more while you're there! LOL

I adore mermaids and am always on the lookout for them although they are quite elusive.
The one you found is a beauty.
