Literary Friday “Where do you turn?”

I’m not sure Ricki Jill will have a linky party up today. She’s had a traumatic time with the bad weather where she lives. Her blog is HERE if you would like to visit her.

I know I have a long prayer list right now of blog buddies that are facing challenges in their lives. And we have quite a few in our family, too. So where do you turn when you need answers to your prayers?

I like to take my journal and write out scriptures that encourage me.

Awhile back Karen from Grab a Book Our Stack sent me this book. Thank you Karen!!!

“When God Doesn’t Make Sense” by Dr. James Dobson.

I have several of his books and admire him greatly. I think I’ll do another post about the books that he’s written that have meant the most to me over the years.

I have to admit, I did not read every word of it. I skimmed through and read the parts that I was interested in and then wrote down scriptures from the text.

Let’s keep each other in our prayers as friends.

I know several of you post prayer requests and I love to pray for others. So if any of you would like for me to add you to my prayer list, please just mention it in the comments or write to me in an email.

Has your weather improved? We only had a cold rain but our temps are headed UP! I hope you see the sunshine this weekend, too!

I think praying for each other is one of the best forms of love.

So simple, yet so complicated "love one another".

Blessings & Hugs

Diane, I forgot to thank you for the beautiful card you sent me. It made me feel loved, thank you so much. I pray for others too. I even pray for our world leaders. Now there's a group that needs extra prayers. :) Some times I feel my prayers seem stale and wonder if God cares as long as I am still praying. I know He is there for me and always has been. Sweet prayers for you too dear friend. xoxo,Susie

You are always so generous with your prayers. Thank you for sharing this book. Very timely.

Very nice post! Timely too as I have some ill folks in my life right now. Our weather is not too bad today, but we're in for more snow tonight and tomorrow. Enough!

I was just thinking about our wonderful blog family and how we hold one another up in prayer! Pray to keep my husband safe on the roads this winter!
Thank you,

I like your idea of the journal. You are a blessing to others (like me) in more ways than you realize. xo

I love the way you wrote Lavender Dreams on your header. Is that a font you added to the picture or did you do a vinyl stencil for your wall with a Cricut machine? That is awesome!

That's a beautiful idea.

I am looking for quotations to put on my on my photos to frame for the grandchildren, so you have inspired me. Here we have snow about 4 inches and it is 18. I have to go to the university to tutor today.Ugh. The road will be bad, but I have all wheel drive and I have driven on bad roads a life time. I know that your prayers are welcomed and provide inspiration and comfort. Isn't P. Manning a class act? Look up his answer to the comment made by a Sea Hawk that he threw ducks. He turned it into a compliment. Go Broncos.

What a priviledge it is to pray for one another. It is awesome to think that you can talk directly to Almighty God and He hears and answers you. I like your idea of a prayer journal. We do that in our Bible study and each week see the answers to our prayers.

God's ways often make little sense to us. That's because He is God and we are not. I, too, like Dr. Dobson very much. I am sure that I would enjoy that book as well. Your prayer journal is a sweet idea. Do you write down when the answer comes?

I have a friend, specifically, who is suffering and in real need of a miracle right now. I love keeping prayer list and writing down when the answers came. It's a blessing and an encouragement for future struggles.

Love anything Dr. Dobson writes.

Diane, I love that sign 'Today will not come again...' Beautiful!!
I like the idea of the Scriptures journal (I keep one of quotes etc...)
Foggy, dreary and at present...rainy, that's the kind of weather we are use to here so no worries here. So many did not fare so well.
Happy weekend Dear,

I write down prayer requests and then write a date beside them when the Lord answers that prayer. Not always as I wish it would have happened but He is in control!

Yes, add me to your prayer list, Diane. My ears have felt clogged up lately and allergies are making me not feel good at all. Thank you, my friend. Ricki Jill was one of my first blog friends, and she is a such a GEM.

I love your "sign"...a good reminder for all of us. It's raining here and maybe it will freeze, or maybe snow...not sure but I'm home safe with my "girls" and we have heat and food and an internet connection so we're good! I like cozy weather too so I'm good rain or shine. I hope you have a nice weekend.

That is so sweet of you to keep a prayer journal of your blogging friend's prayer requests, Diane. Many people praying can be very powerful. God bless you! Enjoy the milder weather coming your way. Hugs. Pamela

I love Dr. Dobson and listened to his radio show several years ago. I recently bought a cookbook his wife and daughter wrote. It's a beautiful book.

I frankly don't know how folks get through life without prayer. I'm always praying for my loved ones and friends, blogger friends included. Sometimes I feel like my prayers are the same all the time, but then I remember that God already knows what's on our heart and knows our need before we even voice it.

Happy weekend to you! And thanks for being such a sweet friend to so many of us!

I can't tell you how much it has meant to me to have blogger friends praying when I have ask.
I pray daily too for those who request it. It's wonderful we have one another!
I used to listen to "Focus on the Family" on the radio. With four children I needed a lot of Godly advice in those days-ha!

We are having pretty normal winter weather up here - some sunny days, lots of misty days, but never very cold.
I used to listen to Dr Dobson on the radio - he made such a lot of sense.

Thanks for the shout out about the Dobson book. Glad you enjoyed it. I have a little notebook of my favorite verses. It's a real encouragement as I read through it.

If you could remember, I need prayer to be more gentle and patient with people, especially the 5th grade boys in my Sunday School class. It seems every week I yell at someone which I do not want to do--they sure know how to push my buttons!

I know that I had a LOT of arguments with God this last year. I'm glad that he finally came around to my way of thinking, LOL. I've heard that fellow is a good author, so I'll have to see if they have this book at the library. Thanks for the recommendation!

It's not going to be as cold this week, but we've got lots of rain the forecast. Ok by me!

I keep prayer notebooks, too, and I belong to a wonderful prayer group on Facebook that is my go-to for sharing prayer requests. Keeping you in my prayers!

What a sweet, thoughtful post Diane.

We have been hit yet again with terrible weather today. This is the first winter since we started our business more than 14 years ago that we had to close so many times, including today. We are losing a lot of money :(.

Please put us on your prayer list. I can't say what it is for right now, but perhaps you can keep it general? lol. Something like ''please make what they wish for happen'.

Thanks sooooo much!
