I’m sorry!!!

I hate to do this but I’m going to have to put word verification on my blog for a few days. I’m getting 20 to 30 anonymous comments EVERY day and hubby thinks if I do the word verification it might help eliminate them. Hopefully it will only have to be for a couple of posts! I HOPE!

I hate it but it’s taking me WAY too much time to delete these spam posts.

I could be visiting YOU!

We had a wonderful weekend. We took a drive on Saturday and saw these beautiful yellow flowers.

I think it’s Woolly Mullein according to the ID book.

And isn’t this church pretty in the distance!

Thanks for understanding!

I’ll take it off just as quick as I can!

I hope you are not having the same problem!

Beautiful pictures!! I was getting a lot too! Probably like 20-30 also, I went into the settings and clicked the option of "you have to have and ID" to leave a comment....and it has helped alot! :) Good luck with yours!! Happy new week! xo Holly

set your comment setting to 'registered users including open i.d.' to eliminate anonymous comments.

Hi,
I am having the same problem, and I was wondering if I should do the same.
Keep me posted if it works, I just may do it too.
Thank you,
Carla

I had the same problem. I was getting about 30 a day and all on one post. They seem to target one. The word verification cut it down a lot. I also put on no anonymous comments. Finally after about six months they gave up and I took everything off. I get a few here and there now, but nothing like it was.

I love the picture of the church. It reminds me of Little House on the Prairie. I'd like attending a church out in the field like that.

Very nice photos, Diane! And- that's why I use word verification.

Sorry to hear that. I have had 2 in the past few weeks which I don't usually get but at that rate I just mark them as "spam".

Be careful.

I agree with the others about making sure that your settings don't allow anonymous comments. They have to be registered with a Google ID. That takes care of a LOT of the problem, but not completely. I also have had to moderate my comments for the past year or so. There are still persistent scammers out there who register bogus Google IDs. (Don't these people have a life?) With moderation, I catch the offenders before they have a chance to post, and I report them to Blogger. I know that it is a little bit inconvenient to have comment moderation, but I have found that it is the best compromise for my piece of mind and for my readers. I hate to tell you this, but word verification is not going to work for a couple of days. They will come back.

Beautiful photos and boy do I understand the need for word verification. Those pesky spam comments drive me nuts. I'm lucky not to have gotten too many but this is the best way to get rid of them for sure. Hugs!

Oh, I understand. I moderated comments for awhile and then it got better. But I stopped allowing anonymous comments. I really wonder what pleasure or benefit anyone gets from creating spam.
That is a lovely church in the background.

Aw! That's annoying! I did what Tex said to do when that happened to me and I don't get them anymore. Well, occasionally - but only on old posts.
Love your beautiful skies and wide open spaces. I have mullein growing here once in a while - beautiful plants. Hope those spammers go away. xo Karen

They are so annoying, what do they really get out of it apart from wasting their own time! I have done the same as a few other people who have commented and set mine to stopping anonymous comments. Take care xx

Great pictures. No need to apologize, sometimes you have to do what is necessary to weed out the spam. Have a great day.

These are beautiful images, Diane! I am sorry someone has picked on you for sending spam. Just like my email was hacked the other week...it's the first time anything like that happened to me. Do what you have to do, girlfriend!

Wow those fried apple pies look delicious! I have put on comment moderation but am doing it for only older posts, as that is where most of the spam comments were showing up and they were harder to catch. Blogger catches them too. So far I think it's working. I just wonder who is so intent on spamming into our blogs. Hope your week is off to a good start!

This is so frustrating....I don't like getting spam. gorgeous flowers and it looks like they are just growing wild..
I always enjoy snapping photos of Church's....

You have to do what you have to do. Hope that it works for you. At least Blogger has simplified the word verification a bit and aren't using those annoying hard to read 2 different words. I have a plug in that stops spam, but I use a Wordpress format.

Yes, set it to registered users. My commenters have to have a google account.

Do what Theresa said and it should help Diane. I know it's frustrating. The photos are beautiful. I love the long distance one with the green fields and blue sky. Hugs. Pam

Argh! I hate those kind of comments. Don't people have anything better to do? On a nicer note I love your new banner :)

That's annoying, yes. I stopped allowing "anonymous" comments and it was a big relief.

I love the flowers! And the clouds are so beautiful! I hope you solve the comment problem! :)

Sorry you're going through that spam stuff, Diane. Do what you need to do, my friend. What eliminated them for me 100% was setting my comments to Registered User vs Anonymous. All your bloggy friends can comment and you never have spammers. Dashboard, settings, comments, registered user, save.
Hope that helps.

Oh rot, what do they hope to accomplish I wonder?
I've had this problem on occasion, but not as extreme as this.
It's funny to still see green grass, Diane, ours has turned already here.

Hi sweet friend, the way I got rid of the spam was I went into my settings and changed the comment option to allow comments for only three days. I haven't had any spam since :)

The numbers don't bother me but the letter ones drive me nuts! I always was a numbers gal. LOL! I need one of those "id" books.
