Who Cooks for Youuuuu!

Yes, there's been plenty of cooking here at home lately! But more exciting than that was this Barred Owl that we saw on a hike.

Most of our trails are closed and we are not going out as much anyway.

But this particular day, it was too beautiful to stay inside. We only saw one other person and he was finishing up his hike and we spoke from a distance. (hollered is more like it!)

Isn't this Barred Owl a beauty?

This is actually the first photo hubby took. Doesn't it look like it's looking down at us wondering what kind of critter WE are!

And it stayed on this branch long enough for a few good photos.

We are looking into the trees where it was dark and I changed the setting on my camera.

But some of the photos still look more brown than he was.

It was amazing though and we were both excited to see something so beautiful!

At least there weren't a lot of limbs between him and us.

He's in the center of this photo!

Well, until he flew! Hubby got this one....

and I took this one with my camera!

Hubby thinks it's funny to take one of me....taking photos!

I hope you've had a chance to get out and walk some. I definitely see more people walking in my neighborhood than I ever see on a hiking trail. I'll sure be happy when they open them back up.

Live Oak Tree

How are you doing this week? I hope you are staying safe and healthy!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

Seems odd to have trails closed. Surely people can be trusted to be cautious. (Well, most people)

Yes, he is a handsome fellow. Nice pics you captured.

Any encounter with an owl makes a walk very special. I hope that some of the people agitating for a speedy reopening of the economy will heed the Japanese experience, where they have had a resurgence of Covid-19 and an ambulance had to go to eighty hospitals with a Coronavirus patient before one was able to accept him/her. I am surprised that you only encountered one other walker.

Oh, you have found my favorite creature of all. I've written several stories about the Barred Owls, but it's been quite a while since we've had them near. I've heard them here in the night a few times, but have yet to see one here in our new location. You were blessed to get such great photos. Yes, they are very curious about us...we had a nest of them in our back yard in our home where we lived about 10 years ago. It was WONDERFUL. That is when I did most of my writing and photography about them. I'm so glad you got to see this beauty!! Thank you for sharing. Brought back happy memories.

I haven't heard our owl lately. I hope he is still around here someplace! These are great photos, thanks for sharing them. Enjoy your day!

that owl surely cooperated with the photographers and he/she is gorgeous. I would love to see one that close. today I watched a few minutes of how they want to ease open slowly and a doctor was talking about opening park trails.
he said the reason they are closed is when people run, jog, ride bikes, they are breathing heavily and that forces their breath out as far as 13 feet, and the germs float in the air, if there are a dozen people even 10 feet apart, they are all passing through the air the others put out. when they open they are afraid with so many home the trails will be crowded.

Hi Friend,
We have Barred Owl in Wisconsin. We are blessed that we have one living along our trail that we snowshoe and hike. We have seen him or her several times.
The photos you captured are fantastic.

Hello,

I am glad you were able to get out for a walk on the trail. The owl sighting is cool, it helps when less people are around to spook them away. The people here are keeping their distance, which is good. I love the owl photos. Take care! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thanks for the comment on my blog.

Oh, what a magnificent sight! This barred owl is just beautiful!
We have a resident owl in our neighbourhood, although we haven't been able to get too close. I love hearing the hoot of an owl...so special.
Hope you are doing well, Diane. Such a blessing you are still able to venture out into nature these days!
Hugs!

Great photos! Wonderful to spot an owl in the daytime. I usually hear one when it is too dark to get a photo.
Have a blessed weekend!

These pics are wonderful! The parks are all closed here although I heard there are a few that were going to open just a bit this weekend.

That was such a great find. I've never seen an owl in the wild. Maybe not anyplace else either. A book maybe... on tv? I'd love to see one.

Oh, what a joy to see an Owl. I've always wanted to see one close up. They are such unusual and fascinating birds. And this is a handsome one. That Oak tree looks like an old one. The stories it could tell. And I love the picture of you taking a picture hehehe.

Keep staying safe, Diane.

So glad they haven't closed our trails though I'm trying to stick to the less popular ones when we get out. So exciting to see an owl! And wonderful photos, felt like I was there with you.

A lovely owl! When we are at the farm (Joe's client) I often hear an owl and go looking for him. So far he remains elusive. I'll keep trying though! Glad you caught this one!

oh this is so exciting diane, much like my experience this week!! it is hard to know what to do as far as walking or being outside. the rules here are a little confusing. most paths are closed, they say to stay home but my beach is open. there were a lot of people on the beach, 20 surfers or more. i wore a mask and did not get close to anyone. we have been following the rules but it was clear from my outing that no one else is. i am glad you out, it really is good for the soul!!!

What a gorgeous bird! You are right about his expression when he bent forward as if to check you out. Wonderful pictures. I also love all the beautiful trees you have in Florida.

Great shot of the beautiful owl. It is nice to be able to walk out to enjoy the nature around you. We are not allowed to go to the park for our walk. We can go to the bank, to buy groceries and places that are allowed to open. There are road blocks to monitor and control our movements.

Nice work Diane. So many people would have just walked by with spotting the owl sat quietly in the tree. Birdwatching makes us so observant to the world around us don't you think? You got great pictures too.

This has to be my favorite owl of all! Great images Diane.

Thanks for adding this post link today. Great addition to I'd Rather B Birdin this week!

Good Morning, I love Owls, and especially hearing them hoot! But, I do worry about it swooping down from the big tree and thinking our little dog is dinner LOL But we have many little owls also we sometimes see people out here taking pictures of them. We feed and water our birds daily. So I guess you could say we are bird watchers also.
Listening to the Book One In A Million Boy, Really enjoying it!

Today is a beauty and I hope to get out somewhere not too crowded after taking care of my mother today. That is a beauty, I don't see or at least notice too many owls but sometimes I hear them. Beautiful oak tree too.

I love your photos of the Owls. They do have a special place in my heart.. My father collected owls..For different occasions my mother would get him an Owl. I once asked my mother, Why she started him with this collection,, Her response to me was that my father had a lot of wisdom.. Indeed he did. Have a great day and be safe.

Beautiful owl! We have one that has been hanging around quite regular at home. Every morning when Marty leaves for work he hears him. It's still dark but he must be close by as Marty says it makes him jump every time he hears him he is so loud. I love it when I see one in the midst of our pine trees. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
