Holiday Colors at the end of summer!

We'll hang on to the summer season for awhile longer here in Florida.

But there have been some pretty holiday colors this week.

Halloween colors in these mushrooms.

And wildflowers are blooming all over the forest after the afternoon showers we've had.

The showers keep things moist for the mushrooms to thrive too.

Most of these photos were taken at the 49th Ave trailhead which is less than 4 miles from my house.

But I've driven to a lot of those trailheads and made one big trip to the mountains of NC and guess what?

I turned over 5,000 miles on my Jeep this week. My boys tease me that I should get out and drive more. But so many of the trailheads I enjoy are very near my house. And yes, I was driving 20 mph on a quiet road and taking a photo! lol

I'll end this post with a Florida Christmas card!

It will still be nice and green when December rolls around and I thought this looked perfect for a Christmas card. It's a big buck that walked across the trail in front of me. (I was walking on a firebreak road that has grown up with grass. They'll till it up soon so I wanted to walk on it before they did)

Tom sent me some beautiful mosaics that he made from my simple mosaic from last week. Thank you, Tom! Here's one of them to share.

I've had a good week of hiking, working on junk journals and baking.

How was your week?

I'm joining Angie for Mosaic Monday HERE .

and I like Thursdays HERE !

I love that mosaic! What nice trails you have to walk on and see all of God's nature! You are right about that deer picture making a great Christmas card. You take care and have a wonderful week.

you truly did find autumn colors in Florida. I am ready for some cool weather. the deer is perfect for a Christmas card. I had to laugh, I came home from Walmart shopping Sat am, and said to Bob, I filled up with gas last Saturday and just got home, guess how many miles I drove from Sat to Saturday? Ten!!!!

Hello dear Diane,
the caterpillar is really a magnificent specimen. Do you know what butterfly it will become? And do you know the "Halloween" mushrooms? They remind me of "our" edible chanterelles, but I don't know if you can find them in Florida. In general you found a lot of mushrooms, but I think most of them are poisonous. Unfortunately I don't know enough about European mushrooms and I would never have guessed that so many mushrooms grow in Florida's climate. The many blooming flowers, which were certainly happy about the afternoon showers, were also very pleasing.
I think it's good that you don't drive more than you want. Why should you? The environment will thank you if you save fuel.
WOW, your Florida Christmas card looks lovely <3 - and Tom's mosaic is very artistic.
Hugs and all the best from Austria, Traude

PS: I'm glad that you could see yourself in my outfit with the Escape into Nature shirt and the blue patterned pants. I think it would look good on you!

Beautiful photos with some wonderful fall colors in them.
I don't put many miles on my vehicle since mostly I just drive back and forth to work. It's a whopping 1 mile round trip. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I drive instead of walk.

You've got Halloween and Christmas covered here! And still some beautiful summer as well. What could be more perfect! Looks good down there this season. August and September are the only months we have *not* been in Florida and it looks like that's a terrible shame. Too bad we can't be in two places at once. ...Love the gift from Tom using your beautiful originals.

Love that mosaic of the butterflies! How neat and colorful! And yes, the mushrooms are popping up everywhere with all this rain. I haven't seen too many wildflowers yet, but I haven't been anywhere either, mainly because of so much rain! Love that you got to see that buck! He's a beauty! We sure have some beautiful sights here in this part of Florida, don't we? We are blessed to be able to observe and appreciate the natural beauty that God has given us to enjoy! Thank you for sharing it with us!

For some reason I am having difficulty leaving messages lately on your blog. IT keeps telling me there's an error. Anyway, I will try again...I enjoyed the mosaic of the butterflies! So colorful! And the mushrooms are popping up everywhere with all of this rainy weather! It's a beautiful time of the year and getting better every day!

I'm always surprised at how colorful Florida can be. Once we slow down and really "look" while we walk, there is all sorts of stuff out there!

Love your "Christmas card" photo.

Thank you, Diane, for continuing to share all this beauty with us!

You DO have fabulous fall colors in so many ways, Diane!

Happy week. I've been offline and will never catch up to all your posts but will try to keep up for now!

Who knew Florida had such pretty orange and fall colors??? YOU did!
We are in Mountain View and I was intrigued that you said you grew up here in Arkansas! I've only lived in Texas but for the first two years of my life when I lived in Kansas City, MO. I have no idea how it feels to move some distance away. I love how YOU love where you live! With all the trails here in Mountain View, I have thought of you several times.....I even walked one myself - in your honor!

Lucky for you that you don't have to drive far to enjoy nature. I'm a big believer in looking over the familiar places to find the unfamiliar. It looks like you are good at it.

My week? Forget it. Pain with the teeth, visit at the dentist ... but forget it. I enjoy now (!) reading some posts like your lovely blogsite. And maybe we can visit ohne day Florida, I hope.

Have a good time.

Oh Yes, that would be a nice Christmas card. The deer are always a special sight. My son noticed one at night right next to my house in the woods. I like that little soft caterpillar. It looks like Fall haha. The color of the butterflies do too!

Have a sweet September week, Diane.
