The Queen Butterfly

The beholders eye sees the beauty.

A little twist to the usual quote.

But I'm going to start with beauty that we all agree on and end with what I think was the most beautiful sighting I had this week. This is not a butterfly we see often so it seemed fitting to see it this week in honor of Queen Elizabeth 11.

Queen Butterfly

We've had a lot of pop up showers lately and the wildflowers are blooming like crazy!

Long-Tailed Skipper

This Skipper was missing a bit of one of his tails but I loved the way the sunshine came onto him.

I don't remember ever seeing the Morning Glory on this trail but it was blooming when I hiked this week.

And I walked 'off trail' to get this wonderful photo of a Mockingbird!

I thought it was a Cuckoo and walked through the tall wet grass to get a really good photo. Thank you very much! lol

Blue-gray Gnatcatcher

And now onto what I thought was my most beautiful sighting this week.

The Yellow Orb Spider

I don't usually like spiders but this one is amazing!

A rainbow over the Gulf of Mexico this week.

And please keep leaving comments even when it gives an error message. It seems like they are all coming through so I don't understand why the message comes up.

Thank you SO much for your sweet comments! They really do make my day. And I won't even fuss if you tell me my amazing spider is not beautiful! hahaha!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

...the butterflies are a gorgeous. I see a number of webs, but rarely the spider!

the orb spiders freak me out, but they are beautiful in a photo only. once while on a drive about, we drove for maybe 10 miles in the middle of the state on state road 70 with these orbs hanging by the dozens on power lines and trees along the road. this was many years ago, when gas was cheap.... I would not put the window down or let bob stop to look

The Queen butterfly is a rare one here, too. They are so beautiful. We don't have to like spiders to admire their handiwork at spinning. Just don't let one light on me! Beautiful photos.

You had an outstanding walk!

Oh, the things you can see when you actually look. Beauty all over the place.

My favorite is the spider. Their webs are amazing, and it doesn't hurt that she is absolutely gorgeeous!

The rainbow gives us hope for a good weekend - and beyond.

I love the butterfly. I am not familiar with it so it was a treat to see. That spider does NOT freak me out. They are so colorful, and they sit so still, not bothering a thing. Great photos.

Hello Diane :=
Such an array of wonderful images. The butterfly is a beauty. We don't see them over here in Portugal, but I do see the Yellow Orb Spider. Have one posted on my blog this year. I don't like spiders in the house but am OK with them outdoors. Beautiful bird captures and the pretty Morning Glory.
Enjoy your weekend
All the best.

Diane, I love butterflies. I had never seen those you have in this post. Yes with the passing of Queen Elizabeth it seems fitting. I do not know if I would walk thru tall grasses there. LOL. Be careful. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Wow! I never saw a Queen Butterfly before! How very very special indeed at this particular time. And I love those orb spiders and their webs, as long as I don't run into one before I see it! LOL. Lovely pictures of everything. Thank you. Now let's see if I get that error message this time.

I got the error message again, so I don't know if the comment went through or not. We'll see what happens THIS time. I won't leave another comment after this if it happens again. Very strange.

I want to than you for your sweet comment on my blog, and to let you know that Lacey died. I thought I would have her much longer, but we don't always get what we think. As always, your nature photos are so beautiful.

That butterfly is beautiful. I don't know if I would go that far with the spider but it is quite impressive looking. So long as it stays on it's web and doesn't come near me I have no problem with it

Such beautiful butterflies and I really love spiders.

Those Argiope spiders are always impressive, but their webs are equally so, especially on a fall morning when the dew is highlighted by the morning sun, and there are hundreds of them in a meadow.

That butterfly is phenomenal! We have a version of those spiders; the spider is gorgeous, but I especially love the web. Don't ask me why it's made like that, I keep forgetting what I read!

(That may be Calystegia sepium, hedgebind)

A great series of photos!

The butterflies are so beautiful. I could avoid the spider if I saw it in real life but it is incredible.

In my opinion blogger has a lot of glitches with their commenting format.
Love your photos this week. I don't think I've ever seen morning glories with heart shaped vines!!

I appreciate you taking time to link in with us at I'd Rather B Birdin' this week.

What a beautiful Queen Butterfly. It looks just like Autumn to me. That spider looks so scary and even poisonous, but their web sure is pretty. Thank you for the rainbow this morning. It made my day. : )
