Trail Updates - A week later

Even though I hike some of the same trails from week to week, things are constantly changing.

This summer, I've had to stick to some of the trails that provide shade.

And it's nice to walk on the paved trails where there are fewer pesky bugs. I prefer those that take me deep into the forest.

But even though it's hot and humid here in Florida, I still like to get out.

Loggerhead Shrike

After I stay inside for a day or two, I'm looking out the window to see if there is any sign of a breeze!

White-tailed Deer

This deer was standing so still, I'm surprised I saw it!

These are some of the things I've seen on my hikes this week.

And for changes?

A lot of you commented that this looked like a Snowy Owl.

And it looks even more like an Owl this week. (It's actually a web of caterpillars, a very LARGE web!)

And the Lion's Ear wildflower I showed a week or so ago, is starting to dry and droop.

I can report that my Jeep is even dirtier and dustier now too. But that just makes it look better I think!

Photos taken from hikes at Halpata Tastanaki Preserve, the Pruitt Trailhead, and the Florida Trails, 49th Ave trailhead.

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

the web does look like a snowy owl, but more like a ghost to me. I don't do webs of any kind but this one is really interesting. even when you go to the same place, it is always different because of the time of day, the light, the sky all things that change the looks of even a simple tree or DEER. love the deer photos

You are an intrepid hiker eager to walk no matter what. That deer certainly is lovely with those long eyelashes.

Great shot of the deer! Hopefully in another month our hot weather will be cooling off!

Nice series of photos, I rather go out in the cool rather than walk around in the heat. I must admit from a distance I thought it might be an eagle but suspected it was a web We have webs like that teaming with caterpillars

A dusty Jeep means you've been off adventuring! Walking when it's too hot is uncomfortable, and a little breeze makes things so much better. That caterpillar web sure does look like an owl! Enjoy your weekend.

I love your photos and the deer is so pretty. I also love your bright red jeep! Cooler weather is coming... just a few more weeks, I hope!

It does make your Jeep look better. I agree. And don't I know it, that the same trail looks different everyday every hour. I've been walking in the same area for 30 years and every day I shoot new pictures. Have a great Sunday

Beautiful pictures of the shrike and the deer.
You live in a beautiful area.

That web is amazing. From far away it does look like an owl.
Awesome shot of the deer.
I was thinking how clean your jeep looked. If you compare it to how a lot of people keep their vehicles around here, it's almost spotless.

Another wonderful post!

I am always amazed at how much things can change in such a short span of time when we visit the same places throughout the year. I guess that's what keeps us coming back to those places!

Hike early and hike often.

It's a good weekend down here. Take good care.

Oh, that White-tailed Deer makes my heart sing. She looks like a young one, and so cute. The Lion's Ear wildflower is unusual. Yes, that still looks like an owl to me haha. Lots of wonderful sightings on this hike.

Have a splendid week ahead, Diane.

Love the Shrike. A couple of species live in Finland too.
They are funny little raptors. 😆

How nice to see the Loggerhead Shrike. Thatis one I have not seen before. We used to have shrikes, but a different one, but this year I have not seen any. :(

oh to see those deer in the wild must be amazing. A bit like our kangaroos here I imagine. I agree, paths you visit often are always changing sometimes in only subtle ways. Happy hiking, stay safe and thank you for visiting my blog last week. We have been away and I am only just catching up.

You are blessed with paved trails to walk on. We are now in the rainy season but we still have hot sun. Beautiful bird and the deer has such a sweet face. I too thought it is an owl. I am always attracted to red vehicles. Have a great new week.

That is a fine looking jeep!
It's true, isn't it, that nature changes almost every day.
I like the new header!

A dirty Jeep shows that you're using it the way you should! Yay! The big giant owl is growing every day! I like hiking (or walking in my case) familiar trails and totally agree that there is something different every time!
