We didn't have any major damage here in North Central Florida. There are some trees down here and there but not anything like they've had on the coast.
It was a stressful week with all the preparations and waiting on the unknown and then two days of rain and wind.
We moved some of the furniture out of our lanai to be ready. It has windows but they are not glass, they are acrylic and there are windows on three sides of the room. We walk into this room through French doors from the kitchen. It's not technically a lanai, it's a Florida room but we called it the lanai when we moved here and the name stuck.
Anyway, we spent the day yesterday cleaning and getting things back in order. At least we have lots of good food cooked that will last us a few more days. We have a generator so we could have heated meals so we wanted things precooked. We made a roast in the crock pot and a big pot of spaghetti sauce, broccoli cheese soup, boiled some eggs and baked muffins and biscuits.
I'm anxious to get back on the Florida trails but I'll wait a couple of days. I'm sure the roads are busy with people getting out. Our stores were closed for 2 days so there will be those needing groceries.
We are praying for our fellow Floridians that are suffering from the damage from Hurricane Ian. I've talked to some of them but I'm waiting to hear from others. There was damage to both coasts so it is widespread!
I hope you have a beautiful weekend. The weather is gorgeous here now.
These aren't my dogs but they sure are cute!
And they are probably wanting to take some walks too!
Photos from the Florida Trails taken last week.
I appreciate your prayers! Sweet hugs, Diane

I am delighted to hear that you didn't have any major damage. It's amazing how the birds and butterflies (as small as they are) are out and about like nothing happened. They didn't board up their windows or prepare food ahead (I'm not saying that humans shouldn't do this . . . if you have a brain and the ability to prepare then by all means do so) it's just that they hunker down and weather the storm too. Then flit and fly about as if it's just another glorious day :) I thought that your idea of boiling eggs was so insightful. Eggs can keep for a long time, you can put them in your pocket if you have a need to escape and they are such an amazing source of protein. Good Thinking!
Glad you came through well. My prayers are with those who have damage and of course, those who lost loved ones. Take care and enjoy your good cooking.
So glad you two faired well....xo
So glad you didn't have a lot of damage. I know a lot of people are affected by the storm. Nice pictures of all the critters. The dogs are very cute. I think you are wise to wait a few days before venturing out.
Thank goodness you escaped any major damage. Take care ♥
I'm so glad that you didn't have a lot of damage from the storm and that you and your husband are ok Diane. It was great that you prepared some meals in advance. Take care and have a nice weekend.
I am so happy that you did not have any damage to your house. It was a good idea to have some meals prepared in advance too. Take care and enjoy the weekend Diane.
Thank you for the update
I am glad y'all are all right.
Thank you for checking in. It was a miserable storm that's for sure. You are wise people doing the wise things. Your meals sound like great planning. You'll be able to take it easy for a few days.
I am so glad you are ok!…omg what a terrible things we see on the news from Florida today …prayers for all those people who lost there home and more love from me Ria 🙏🙏🙏
I am glad to hear that you are safe. Beautiful photos. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

So happy you didn't see any major damage in your part of Florida, but I will certainly keep your state as well as South Carolina in my prayers.
I wonder if the beagles were rescued from the NIH program. They are so cute, one of my favorite breeds!
Yes, we certainly did dodge a big one, and we are SO very thankful here as well. We were ready for the worst, and so glad it never happened. We did lose power for about 6 hours, but we survived that just fine and even enjoyed playing dominoes instead of watching tv. That was refreshing! We did just get back from an evening walk in our woods where we like to walk. Amazing how quickly the ground dries out after so much rain. Our Florida sand it made for that. There are branches down and a few trees here and there, but all in all we escaped the brunt of that storm. Praying for those who are now having to start over with their homes having been destroyed either by wind or water. May God give them the comfort and strength they need. Love your pictures.
A wicked storm magnified by all the new construction since the last one came through. Glad to hear you missed the brunt of it. Feel very sorry for those who suffered.
Diane, So glad you and Ron are safe. You did well prepping for the storms. Loved seeing your pictures. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie
Tenoroc Public Use Area is open this weekend but it is SOGGY out there. The boss took me out and about to see some of the property today and there is standing water on some of the trails and the lakes for full. The guys got fallen trees moved and cut up and debris moved. It's a big job! I loved your photos (always do)!! Praising God for his mercy and praying for so many who lost so much south of us. xo
Thanks for the update, Diane. I'm glad to hear you didn't have any damage in your area. That broccoli cheese soup sounds delicious. It's smart of you to have so many foods ready to go. Those doggies are too cute. ; )
Take care, and be safe. Have a lovely weekend.

I've been thinking about you and praying for you in that storm. I am so glad you suffered little damage. It is such a good idea to be prepared.
Luckily you have no damage.
We have seen on television all the damage that has been caused there, really terrible for all those inhabitants.
Your photos are beautiful.
Greetings Irma
So glad you escaped any major damage.
Beautiful photos as always.
Stay safe, my dear friend.
So happy to hear that you made it through the storm safely and without damage.
It was a powerful storm and could have been a lot worse. Glad to hear that you are okay.
This dry cool air almost makes us forget there was a storm. Then - I looked at the back yard. Sigh. Saw and rake some more today.
Thank you for letting us know you're okay and as anxious as we are to hit the trails!
Thank goodness all is pretty much OK with you. I hope that the people you are waiting to hear from have suffered little if not at all. Your butterfly shots are exceptional. And I envy your energy to prepare so well with food. I always think I will if I have to, but I never do it to that extent.
I'm so grateful your area was largely spared, that the larder is full and you have the generator. Thanks for the update. I'd been thinking about you.
Glad you are safe with minimal damage ~ Xo
Great series of photos ~ especially like the butterflies and the cute doggies ~ Xo

Love the butterflies! I’m so glad you were unscathed.
Hello Diane :=) This is very good news that you didn't have much damage in your area. You certainly were well prepared, and I am so pleased you are OK.
Your butterfly pictures are superb. What gorgeous colours they have.
Many thanks for the update, pleased you are ok.
All the best Jan
...your butterflies are gorgeous. The next time that it gets windy be sure to put some rocks in your pockets so you don't blow away.
I'm glad that you came through it all okay. I was thinking about you. It is good that you have a generator.
I'm glad that you are okay. Looking at the footage on television, some of the areas had terrible devastation.
Cute dogs. I’m relieved that you are OK. I have to limit my time watching that disaster footage because it makes me cry.
It's good to hear you suffered no damage Diane. My son Carl and family flew to Florida on Friday although it was touch and go until the last minute if the Virgin plane would go. They arrived safely but I suspect they will see a lot of the aftermath when they arrive.
In Greece we had the Jimny again. The same one as last time.
I wasn't sure which part of Florida you live, but Ian was scary & you were in my thoughts.
I am always jealous of birders finding blue jays since they aren't here!?
Enjoy the week ahead & thanks for linking in this week
Glad to hear that you were safe and sound. Thank you for keeping my family in your prayers. Thankfully they are all safe too. So sad to see the devastation that so many in Florida are facing. Heartbraking.
On the upside, you will be able to breathe a sigh of relief now and enjoy those home cooked meals.
I am glad to know you were not in the center of the storm. I did see a lot of footage from it on the news. Devastating! They have a lot of work getting thing "back to normal" if possible!
glad you're okay and thanks for the dog show!! LeeAnna
We too are so thankful for only having debris in our yard! Praying for so many. Glad to know all is well your way sweet lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Glad you are safe!!!!
So sorry for those badly affected by the hurricane. Glad you are spared the damage. Those are cute dogs. Have a great new week.
Glad the hurricane missed you!
Great photos! My favorite is the Gulf Fritillary Butterfly.
Thanks for your comment on my blog.
Have a wonderful week!
Hello,
I am glad you were safe from the storm. There was so much damage done to the southern gulf cities, it is devastating. Beautiful photos from your walk, I love the butterflies. The doggies are so cute, adorable photos.
Sorry, I was away for a week and I am late visiting. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy new week ! PS, thanks for leaving me a comment.
Diane, I'm glad you are safe and hope by now you have electricity and water and have been out walking on those trails. And I hope your Publix is open!!
Thanks for checking in on our blog. We have mitigation person coming in this week to assess the damage on the Canal Cottage -- we know it is still standing but don't know how much standing water etc from the storm surge. We should know more later this week but I'm sure there will be some. Price of living on the water I guess.
Thank you for checking in on us on our blog; I really appreciated that. -- While we are of course hoping the Cottage can be saved, no matter what happens we feel fortunate because we do have another place to live. So many others can't say that.
I'm so glad to hear you are OK, I've been thinking of you and my other blogger friends in Florida.
i have been thinking about you as i was not sure where in florida you lived. i am so happy you guys are ok AND now you do have good food to eat. theses storms are terrible, ian, in florida, reminded me of our superstorm sandy!!
beautiful pictures today, the second blue jay image is stunning...so artsy!! and i see one of my black swallowtails made it down to you, unharmed. the fritillary is perfectly beautiful as well!!
take care diane, as storm season is upon us!!
Love the bird and butterfly photos. I'm glad you didn't have any major damage.
I just wanted to check and see how you came through the storm. I'm glad you are doing fine and nothing was damaged.
