How many birds do you see?

I had to look twice when I saw this old dead limb.

It looked like 4 birds practicing social distancing!

But it's really 2 birds

and 2 knots on a log! lol

I'll share photos from a hike I took on the Florida Trails one morning.

Northern Flicker

Mockingbird

Red-tailed Hawk

Red-Headed Woodpecker

Rufous-sided Towhee

And then I'll see if I can find one room that's quieter than the others. They are putting a new roof on our house this week and it's taking longer than expected. Most of Thursday, all of Friday, half day Saturday and they'll finish on Monday! WHEW! But they are doing a great job! It's been wonderful to get the professionals to do things right! Our house is over 20 years old and it was TIME! The Florida sunshine really cooks the shingles on a roof. I'll share more photos when it's finished!

What's new with you this week? Have you been able to get outside and enjoy nature? It's awfully HOT to enjoy the outdoors here this week.

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

I just got back from my 7 am walk in the neighborhood and thought i might have to call bob to come bring me home. the humidity is awful, we were at 98 3 nights in a row at 7 pm and waking up to 81. i don't know how roofers and ac repairmen stand working in the heat. i was told by the pool pump person he gets used to it...

forgot to say LOVE the photo of the woodpecker. and the birds/knots look just like 4 knots or 4 birds

met a neighbor on my walk today, he was washing his RV, I said headed out for the holiday? he said no, we don't do camping on holidays, we just got back. I asked where and he said on The silver river in Ocala, and said he would love to move to ocala to get away from our mini metropolis

Hello, Diane

I always enjoy seeing your birds from your walks. You saw a nice variety. I love the Red-tailed Hawk and the Red-headed Woodpecker. The Towhee is pretty too. I know you will be happy when the roof is done!
Great series of photos. Thank you for linking up your post. Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy weekend!

Oh wonderful! The rat-a-tat is two hours from being over for today. Usually, roofing is the zing of the automatic nailer so not sure how much rat-a-tat is going on.

Yes, I have had some fun this week as one thing led to another and so I spent extended time with my daughter and sister. It's great to be able to go on a whim.

So much variety in birds there...

I love the hawk...we have quite a few of them around here and always fun to see them sitting on fences, trees etc.

We did get out to walk a bit this week but it has been raining here on and off. It has kept the temps down so I am not going to complain. Hard to believe that next Saturday is July 4th!

Diane, Kudos to hard working men who get out in this heat and work. I love to hear mocking birds. I do not know if they are around this area. We have the flickers and woodpeckers. You angel doll from the previous post is beautiful. Blessings, stay safe, xoxo, Susie

There isn't much that is more important than the roof!
Lovely birding.

i thought there could have been 4 birds on that limb...but was leaning toward 2!! you saw a nice variety of birds on this walk, the towhee, the hawk and the red-headed woodpecker picked perfect spots to perch!!

your home is beautiful. we had our roof replaced not too long ago and it took way longer than estimated. the roofer was our brother-in-law and my 2 nephews, it was nice to have relatives to count on!! now i am wondering how long it has been??!!

it's been pretty nice here in new jersey but it is suppose to be 92 today and humid. the hubs is working and i am staying indoors!! have a happy weekend!!

ALWAYS love the bird pictures. I have to find a roofer too. We have a leak. I can't find one to even come. Can you send yours up here?

Nice captures, love the woodpecker!

A roof's an important thing, for sure, and you want it to be done right. But oh the noise indeed! I'm glad this ordeal is almost behind you & that you'll be good for another 20 years. Your pictures are absolutely beautiful, as always. Thank you for posting the cheer. Love, Andrea xoxo

No outside this week but hopefully we will make it to the pool next week, at least three days. I'm not up for hiking just yet. Great bird photos (always!).

I enjoyed seeing your birds!
When we had to replace shingles about 15 years ago, we got a metal roof. More expensive, but we will never have to have roof work done again (unless, God forbid, we are hit by a tornado).
Enjoy the silence on Sunday; hope they finish quickly on Monday

Well if you don't mind Carol I will give the plate of fried shingles a miss. A little dry for my taste buds. And my teeth wouldn't like them a lot. It's funny how birds sometimes like to pose out in the ope. Show offs!

That old log does look like it has 4 birds on it. The more you look the more you see. You sure did see some lovely birds this week. Your home looks wonderful, and I'm glad they are doing a good job replacing the roof for you. We've had some very hot and humid weather too, but lucky for us we had a good downpour of rain this morning. Enjoy the weekend.

Great captures of the birds. It did look like 4 birds on the tree when I first saw it. Good luck with the new roof, all the banging would be uncomfortable to hear but it will be over soon.
Enjoy your day!

I thought it was 4 birds at first glance. It is always reassuring to have a new roof put on and take the worry away!

My house was almost 25 years old when I had a new roofmput on. I got lucky, they did Not in one day and had it almost finished when I got home from work

yep, those birds are definetely social distancing......ha ha lOL! I love that woodpecker. Your home is beautiful and I'm so so glad they are busy on the roof project.....not much longer now!! I know you are ready for it to be done. Do y'all have one of those garage door screen doors?--it looks like it but I can't tell. I had NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT until were driving around in myrtle beach and lots of people had them.......I thought it was such a cool idea and the people had made their garages into really nice porches to use and enjoy. Hope your weekend is going great. It is hot here but we are still going out walking and doing our best and Mr front Porch does the yard work early in the mornings. Hugs!!

Great shots of the birds on a limb. I'm so glad you are getting your roof done professionally. You will be so happy when it's all done.

It's been very hot here too, so I've been gardening early in the morning and then again in the evening (some nights, others I'm too tired by evening). Then I've been bringing in furniture from the Art Barn to take the place of all that I gave away and sold. I was making room for my daughter and her children to move in, but it didn't work out. I got rid of a lot of things that I wouldn't have and now I'm replacing what I can and making do. It's a blessing that I had those chairs out in the barn, or my living room would be very sparse.
Wishing you a lovely week.
Connie :)

Yes, its 2 birds and I got it right. Lovely shots of pretty birds against the blue sky. You have a large space around your house.

My favorite today is the wonderful red-headed woodpecker. And yes, that roofing job would definitely irritate my ears...but, worth it in the end. Your post today is a treasure. I enjoyed every minute here and want to thank you for participating at IRBB this week.

Tiled roofs would be much more practical in a hot climate. That's why they are pretty much universal throughout the Mediterranean.

Looks like a hot time to be roofing. I certainly don't envy them. I spent a couple of fun hours outside with my granddaughter yesterday. xo Laura

I LOVE your bird pictures...and the red headed woodpecker is spectacular! We don't often see that particular kind. Or the Flicker...that's another one I never see here. You got some great photos!!! Oh, I am sorry your roof is taking so long! But your roof line is more complicated that ours. We don't have all those different angles, so it didn't take so long. I do hope you can find a peaceful spot to retreat from the noise. Glad you were able to get out and enjoy God's beautiful world too. We had a humdinger of a thunderstorm last night...high winds and lots of rain. Took us by surprise. Thankfully no damages. Take care and enjoy your Sunday rest.

lol, yes trees can trick you to see many things. In one place I often visit there is a piece of wood that always make think it is a Thrush sitting there. :)
Have a great week, take care.

Love that branch, Diane! Oh I hope they finished the roof next door. That is sooo noisy. I do feel sorry for them working on a hot roof in the summer though.

Haven't seen the Mockingbird in a long time. What a delightful bird. And the red-headed Woodpecker is always a favorite. So good that you now have a new roof. That is an unusual looking tree with the old limbs.

And Happy 4th of July Diane!
