We're sticking to the 'quiet trails' for our hikes!
Which pretty much means any trail we hike here close to home!
We hiked yesterday and met 2 people in the 2 hours we were out in the forest.
Limpkin
So that's makes it a perfect way to get some exercise and 'clear the cobwebs'!
Moorhen
The weather is beautiful and we feel blessed to be surrounded by beauty.
Little Blue Heron
The trails here are never very busy. We usually see more people on bikes than walking. We live among other retired people that have an active lifestyle but there are a lot more walkers in the neighborhood than in the forest.
White Ibis
We hike....and stay at home! It's been good for us and not any kind of hardship on us. But we keep everyone in our prayers.
Stay healthy and happy! And let me know in the comments how you've been this week!
I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE
and I’d Rather B Birdin’.

we just got back from our walk, when we got to the turnaround, we heard weird loud noise. I tracked it down and a line of 4 trash cans one was rocking on its rollers, and the lid popping up and down. Big had a fit and laid down and would not walk. we new it was a critter and used treats and dragging by handle to get Big back home, went back and bob used an ax handle to flip the lid. nothing came out, he peered down into the trash can and a half grown raccoon was peering up at him, the thing was too deep for it to get out. Bob tipped the trash can over half way and the terrified baby fled off into the back yard.what an adventure. we hope he wasn't in there all night.
our streets we walk on are empty. bob said this morning it is like a bomb went off and we are the only ones left in the neighborhood. we saw no one but the coon..
we have been great this week, no worries here. both of my children are working from home and i am really happy about that, i know they are safe!!
this was a really good walk for you, the trail is gorgeous and you saw a lot of big birds. i don't see/have never seen a limp kin, or a moorhen. the reflection with the moorhen is beautiful. we have taken a lot of rides in the car and we are on lockdown...i'm not sure if it is allow. i have asked so many people and i always get a different answer. we have taken 2 bike rides and we pass a lot of people on the trail!
have a great weekend diane, stay safe and be well!!!
Hello
Staying active is important. I do enjoy going along on your walks. I miss the Florida birds, the Limpkin is a favorite. Great captures of all the birds and the squirrel. Take care and stay well! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Enjoy your day, happy weekend! PS, thanks for the visit and comment.
I love the name "Limpkin" and those reflections on the moorhen are stunning.
We are in a shelter at home here in Atlanta. I envy you having a beautiful place to hike in these stressful times. xo Laura
I am glad we can at least get out for walks. We see more people in our subdivision walking these days when we are not busy with all kinds of things outside the home.
I would rather walk in the forest than on a sidewalk! But today I shall walk the 1.7 mile snake in our neighborhood.
We are hoping to go to the ranch soon. And stay for at least three weeks. Louis Dean is loading the truck so when we CAN go, we’ll be ready!
We are in our fourth day of rain, so even going out is off the books, for now. Love seeign all your bird friends, and I'm so glad you are getting those walks, so we get to enjoy them, too. Sandi
You do live in a great place for those hikes.
So nice to be this close to the nature :)
Beautiful photos of quiet tranquility. The photo of the lake and its beautiful reflection is my favorite! Thank you, stay well and have a grand weekend!
Thank you for the prayers. Fresh air and sunshine are good for you so I am happy that you can get out and enjoy it. ☀️
We have been walking everyday and have found a path near our neighborhood that is much like the woods.. No people around. Last night, we went out after dinner, when it was a slight bit cooler. We saw lots of peacocks just hanging around! Stay safe.
The Limpkin is my favourite, and the White Ibis, lovely. Stay safe.
...two people in two hours sounds great to me! My hiking at the moment is going up and down our long drive a number of times. I love your squirrel, mine have taken over the bird feeders! Stay safe and hang in there.
Gorgeous nature photos ~ such treasures and one of the best places to go right now ~ ^_^
Be Well,

Great pictures! We are fine here, staying low. Thanks for sharing your hikes!
Lovely photos. You are allowed to hike - we can only walk within a 2km radius of our house with a permit that has to be dated and the time we left home. If the police stop you and do not like what you are up to it is a heavy fine!! Thank goodness for the Little Owl watching over me 🦉. Take care, Diane
You have such a lovely place for your walks. Great photos of all the critters, I especially like the Limpkin and Moorhen.
Have a great weekend!
To get out and about is the best medicine of all, especially since there is always a chance that restrictions on our movement may become more onerous. It is ironic that COVID-19 is probably giving wildlife a bit of a break from human intrusion. The deer must be delighted not to see men with guns bent on killing them.
I so enjoy your photographs, Diane! I feel like I'm there with you enjoying a hike! Thank you!!
Beautiful photos from your hike. Love the heron!
Not hard to keep busy around here. We have 21 acres in the woods to walk around and I see no one!!
What a lovely relaxing walk and it was very nice to see all your beautiful birds and that one happy squirrel. Thanks for taking us along.
It looks like the wildlife don't mind your presence at all! Such good pictures!
What a beautiful trail and yes, if it's not heavily populated then it's perfect, isn't it. Thank you for sharing your walk with us on your blog. Being out in nature cures what ails, that's for certain. Love, Andrea xoxo
I enjoyed this, Diane. At the moment we are only allowed to go 100m outside our homes, unless grocery or medicine shopping. We are missing all the beauty of spring. So I'm enjoying yours all the more. Not reading much, can't seem to concentrate on that, but I did finish a very good Donna Leon. Are you reading her? Stay safe!!!

Nice shots! Continue to stay safe.
Hello.
You have so beautiful nature there. The photos of birds are wonderful. Take care.
As you prove Diane, this is actually a good opportunity to spend time with nature and reflect upon the important things in life. Like family, being alive and staying well and active. Stay safe.
What beautiful photos of your walk.
The squirrel is my favorite.
Take care of yourself and stay healthy.
Best regards Irma
ooooops, where's the DEER!!?? HA HA lol--there's water up there now. ha ha Loved the pretty pictures, did y'all get out to hike any today?(saturday) We had a short walk. Hot here today, windows open, lots of fresh air and sun today. Mr. Front Porch keeping busy with outdoor projects plus he made me TWO BLUEBIRD houses today!! So excited to see if any take up residence with us, I would love that. Do y'all have bluebirds there? Glad you liked that last post...and that you also love the old music. Oh yes!!--let's TWIST! ha ha LOL. I used to love that song and that other one too "let's twist like we did last summer". Both fun dance songs. Love the good bird pictures you got here!
That's the best way to get through these tough times - outside in nature away from too many people, fresh air in the lungs. I enjoyed your pictures!
Lovely pictures! Happy sunday!
It's been too crowded at most of the places I've gone to practice riding my bike this week, and so many big families with their pets on the trails and hiking paths which makes me a little anxious. It's a good thing I love dogs because they are everywhere. I'm glad you've got silent places to go and are staying safe. Wonderful wildlife shots, I'm not familiar with the limpkin.
Beautiful! (Love the reflection). And a Limpkin...not here in Texas that I know of, so color me very envious!
Thanks for stopping by to add your link today & share with us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin!
As always, just beautiful.
It's been a strange week for me. I love to stay here by myself, I'm always happy, never bored. So I have been much surprised by feeling much more needy, tearing up, not happy, wanting our cold weather and depressing low cloud cover to move on. I'm fighting it by working on my writing, working on my cooking, playing with my dogs, and reading books. I just saw on TV that we may get to 74 later in the week. That may help me to cheer up.
Oh, how I would love your walk - in our exciting news we have found 7 levels of the car park in our apartment block and a top-level with a basketball hoop which we can walk around!! The joys of social isolation in a city! Here's to clearing lots of cobwebs for us both!

cool to see a limpkin. I have only seen it once. And that was far off. :(
Nice forest to hike in.
Such a good looking trail ..
Eddie and I are enjoying local walks, (taking care with social distancing rules). I really should try and take some photographs!
All the best Jan
Oh, look at all the wonderful things you saw on your hike. The White Ibis is beautiful, and that little Blue Heron is cute as ever. These are great photos. The picture of the water and all the greenery looks very tropical. When you say your prayers, mention your friend Sheri and her family, would you? ; )
