Even though it's been a difficult summer for all of us and we've had more than our share of things to be worried about, it's also been a time to show our appreciation. There are so many people in our lives that do so much good. But this post is about the appreciation I've been shown lately.
Most of you know that I volunteer for Hospice of Marion County. I'm a patient visitor at Legacy House and have worked there for over 2 years. We have not been able to do visits this summer because of the virus but I volunteered in other ways and received this certificate in the mail a few days ago. I was surprised...to say the least!
And compliments go a long way. When our roof leaked and damaged a piece of furniture and the carpet by the wall, a young man from our insurance company came to inspect the damage. I made sure my bedroom was tidy (and made my bed as I always do) and he arrived right on time. But guess what! He had a camera and wanted to photograph EVERY room in the house. At one point, I told him I would have done a little more had I known he was going to do that. And do you know what he said? He said, This is one of the cleanest houses I've ever been inside. Just that. But you know....I took that as a compliment and wrote it down in my journal.
It's been an interesting week. I met a Wildlife Photographer on a hike on the Florida Trails and talked to him while he rode his bike really really slow and I walked as fast as I could! And then another day I hiked at Pruitt and met an artist and talked to him about the beauty of that area. (all safely social distancing!)
I also wrote to the Florida Native Plant Society to let them know I had written a post about them HERE . They've featured me on their twitter feed HERE and Facebook page HERE. How nice is that!
Showing a few of the Wildflowers I've seen this week on my hikes.
WOW! This is more than I usually write! But I am so thankful to be appreciated AND to have so many compliments! I'm especially thankful for all of YOU! When I wrote to the Native Plant Society I told them to be sure and read the comments! Thanks for making my blog a happy place to visit!

...it's nice to be appreciated!!!
It is so nice to be given compliments or shown appreciation and more important than ever with all the worries we have these days. I'm glad you have experienced lots of that kindness lately. I know it was all very much deserved. Gorgeous photos as always :)
Hello,
I agree, it is nice to feel appreciated. I always enjoy visiting your blog. I am sure you feel wonderful volunteering and being a patient visitor. Your post and flowers are gorgeous!
It is good to be appreciated. I don't feel I am. But I haven't done any hospice work in months.
My client is so sick they've put a PSW in 8 hours a day.
It is a good thing to know that one is appreciated. You certainly deserve the compliments!
I would have taken that about the house as something worthy to be noted too. I think most people are in such a rush today and overloaded that they don't attend to their homes much any more. I always enjoy your pictures of your hikes and it is nice to be appreciated.
Wow that's a lot of compliments and I know that compliments to make you feel better and feel happy. This should be a lesson to all of us that we should compliment people when they do things well or when we like something and boost other people's feelings.
Kudos to you Diane. You are a wonderful person. I smiled about the clean house remark. I absolutely bet the young man spoke the truth. Your home is always nice and pretty. Blessings to you, stay safe, xoxo, love, Susie
Your blog is always a happy place to visit. I feel that you are someone who pays attention to how to live your best life. I love that, it's inspiring. Have a great day.
I don't leave comments at every blog I visit. First, you genuinely share yourself, not just your photos. I love the fact I can visit Florida, without visiting Florida. Much like I enjoy the Canadian blogs, a few of the Colorado blogs. I think that is the most important part of blogging ---viewing this great continent we live on...finding people are pretty much the same everywhere. Hugs, and I'm glad you blog and share the beauty of your state and the beauty of your soul...Sandi
Congratulations on your award and your recognition from the Native Plant society. They are well deserved. I enjoy visiting here and seeing all your beautiful photos. You enjoy your day, hugs, Edna B.
Really enjoyed reading this post and seeing all your wild flower photos. Feeling appreciated can go a long way. Glad you received some well-deserved recognition. Hope you have a wonderful rest of your week.
Diane, It is like I said before--you are awesome! The wildflowers are so pretty! Love, Aunt Helen
Congratulations on them recognizing your work and how it impacts others. I know you miss the patients but hopefully this virus will be over one of these days!! Keeping my fingers crossed.
All well deserved appreciation.
And so wise, to notice these nice things.
We should do this, all the time. But especially, at this time. Of Wuhan Virus and upheaval and horror, in our streets.
We need any bit of joy, we can find.
Gentle hugs,

Receiving compliments is such a wonderful feeling. Its great when people take the time to give thanks.
It's a good reminder for me to give sincere compliments.
We all need to brighten someone else's day...because it will brighten ours also.

What a lovely thing for that young man to say to you Diane. We could all use a bit more kindess in this anxious time. Thank you for the work you do for Hospice. It is such a wonderful service for so many.
your flowers are so pretty but your heart is beautiful. I love that you wrote down the man's statement... what a great idea to remember a moment that brought your spirits up. Working at hospice... I bet you have a lot of stories I'd like to hear. I have several friends who are/were hospice nurses and they tell me about encounters their patients have with the spirit world beyond the boundaries of this physical one. And life goes on despite the body's failing.
Beautiful nature shots and Congrats on your award ~ ^_^

You're right about the power of compliments. And recognition -- yours is well deserved. Especially for your volunteering because that is both of the heart and the mind. I'll have to check upon the site that linked your post. That's super!
It is nice to be appreciated! You help me to appreciate Florida with your photos of wildflowers and hiking trails. I live in the mountain west, so a very different environment!
Congratulations! Those are some great compliments. That is awesome that you volunteer with hospice. My grandmother and my husband's grandmother both spent time in a hospice house, and the volunteers made such a difference for both of our families. Thank you. Even if people forget to say it in the moment, it makes a big difference.
Always nice to be appreciated. Makes you want to do more, or at least I do. Thanks for linking up today.
Always nice to be appreciated.
I can just imagine some of the houses that man has been in!!!
It's the little things like that, that can really make your day
How wonderful! And thank you for your volunteer service to Hospice. That is such a wonderful organization. We were blessed by them during the final caregiving for both of my parents and our son, and my mother in law too. They really perform such a wonderful service. And I loved your link to the wildflower group. I look up wildflowers there quite frequently. Wow, to be told that your house is one of the cleanest is quite the compliment! That is wonderful! I don't think mine would pass that test, but oh well. I am happy for you! Loved your pictures today as usual. Blessings always!
You always have such pretty plant photos. Ah - sincere compliments at the right time are SO GOOD! It's nice to be appreciated.
You're right, compliments go a long way. That's nice that they appreciate you so much at the Hospice House. I really like that Bee photo, that's so cool. You are taking some wonderful photos with your new camera, Diane. Keep them coming. ; )

Hello! Your photos of nature are just wonderful. And I would definitely say that was a compliment that your house is clean. I'm sure they see a whole lot of surprising things. Kudos to you for being a hospice worker. I cannot say enough about the support received for my mom and brother-in-law. It is a job I would find very difficult to do and yet I can imagine it is very rewarding. {{Hugs}} Thank you so much. ~smile~ Roseanne
How wonderful is this post full of appreciation and joy, from those who appreciate you and then how much you appreciate them right back. (Statement, not a question.) Thanks for sharing!!
Well done. I love your pictures of flowers, birds, butterflies.
You do so many good things! Glad you are appreciated because you certainly do your part to make this world a better place.
Congratulations on all your accomplishments. In your photos of the bee and moth are just beautiful! Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!
It is wonderful that you do volunteer work at the hospice and that they gave you the award. Such beautiful photos of flowers and nature. Have a nice weekend Diane and thanks for the blog visit.
This post....THIS is why I am so thankful that I have a reliable laptop and can blog and "blog jog" again. Thanks for sharing these positive niceties in your life. I do miss the days when we only had blogging and there was no social media. Social Media can be toxic, and I really try to avoid it and only follow accounts that attempt to share joy.
Thank you!
It is simply nice to see you here. Love your photos and it is very nice to get such a kind compliment. Blogger is driving me mad at both blogs so I am reverting to the original blogger for now. I sure hope they fix their errors. HUGS across the miles XO
It's always nice to be appreciated.
Lovely photographs.
All the best Jan
So exciting to hear about the Florida Native Plant Society. I always enjoy your very professional photographs and writing and learn so much. I'm glad others beyond the blog world can enjoy your work. Yay, Diane!
You deserve every single one of those compliments and more besides! I was thinking about your hospice visits the other day when I read an article about people dying alone because family couldn’t visit. One of the saddest things on a whole list of sad things these days. But you are right, we must go on. It does nobody any good t let myself get depressed, so I look for my happy places! And when I can’t get outside myself, I look at yours )))!
Me encantan las flores silvestres y estΓ‘s son preciosas. Felicidades por tu regalo. Besos.
