Let's visit the birdie nursery!

We hiked at Halapta Tastanaki from the Pruitt Trailhead a few days ago and before we left, we drove into the grassy area where the horse trailers park. NO ONE was there that day! It has huge live oak trees but they are spaced so that the trailers can unload the horses with plenty of room to drive around and back out after a ride. We love to drive around back there and we always see birds.

But on this particular day we saw baby birds!

And lots of them!

The craziest part of it was the different birds that we spotted in the same area.

The bluebirds were the most fun to watch. They were swooping and soaring and chasing each other just like you would expect youngsters to do!

Most of the photos I got were those onlookers from the fence!

They stayed there without moving much.

And then there was this cute fellow.

A young Mockingbird!

And then this appears to be a young Red-bellied Woodpecker.

What a great ending to a fun hike!

Summer time hiking....

you gotta love it!

I’m joining Saturday’s critters HERE

Looks like you hit the day after many young birds fledged from their nests. Bluebirds probably have 4/5 or 6 young in a nest so that explains why so many. Must be good feeding spots where you live. Enjoy your day.

I love all the birds and what a very good photographer you are. Hiker too of course.

Didn't you say you have a BMW? I would not trade it for a Jeep. A Jeep, used as an SUV, got a pretty lousy rating in Consumer Reports a couple of years ago. I don't know if that has changed. And if you are not tall, it may not be comfortable for you. The only way I would get one would be as an extra car, a sort of fun thing to ride around in. I never liked the Jeep until I got the Honda for highway driving and kept the Jeep for the back roads here.

The babies are so cute and kind of "messy." ~grin~ They remind me of the old saying; "Looks like they don't have their _hit together yet." LOL

o.my, how sweet they are those little things. You have to love them. :)
Thanks for sharing.

But I don´t appreciate those fences. They are raised on many places where I live and the deer´s have no place to go, and I can´t find them :(

It is encouraging that the bluebirds have had such a good year. It is not so long ago that they were in steep decline. They appear to have had a successful breeding season here too.
